Ghrelin is a weird little peptide. Ghrelin stimulates the release of GH in humans and rats... however it also stimulates prolactin release in humans, but not in rats. Ghrelin also increases the release of cortisol, and it seems to have a reciprocal relationship with leptin.

I looked into a bit recently because ive been pretty interested in dopamine lately (which regulates prolactin), and ghrelins interaction with prolactin seems to override anything dopamine does. In rats, shitloads of IV'd ghrelin actually increase basal dopamine by ~30%... unfortunately it doesnt look like it works in humans. :/

All ive seen on the various boards is threads mentioning a "neat study" here and there relating to ghrelin (although i didnt exactly do a thorough examination). I dont think its even close to being understood yet... some of this stuff is pretty overwhelming. I mean, one slight imbalance in any of these chemicals just has massive cascading interactions with almost everything else in the body. I can't wait till we can put our minds on a hard drive and not have to worry about these meatbags.

Not too lengthy of an article, but has some useful information. However, it still seems like we are far off from fully understand ghrelin's total affects and interactions with other hormones and chemicals in the human body.
