This is just retarted. With all the alcohol I drank as a kid they would have to kill all of my family and future grand kids.

Iranian faces execution for drinking alcohol -- report - INQUIRER.net, Philippine News for Filipinos

TEHRAN -- A young Iranian man has been sentenced to hang for repeatedly drinking alcohol which is strictly banned in the Islamic republic, the Etemad newspaper reported on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old, identified only as Mohsen, was handed down the death penalty by a criminal court after being found guilty of drinking alcohol for a fourth time, the daily said.

"The defendant in this case has been sentenced to death and the official notification will be given soon," it quoted Judge Jalil Jalili as saying.

"According to article 179 of the Islamic penal code, if someone drinks twice and is punished for it on each occasion he should be executed on the third offence," Jalili said.

Mohsen was punished for drinking alcohol three times in May, June and October 2006. In the latest case, he was arrested for drunken and disorderly behavior on the street, the daily said.

The young man had expressed his repentance in a letter, but the judges of Branch 72 of Tehran penal court sentenced him to death.

The usual punishment for a single drinking offence is 80 lashes, according to Iran's penal code which is based in Islamic sharia law.

His execution still needs to be confirmed by Iran's supreme court before being carried out, as with all executions in the country. There are no recent records of any people being hanged in Iran for drinking alcohol.
The consumption of alcohol has been strictly forbidden since the 1979 Islamic revolution, although some Iranians flout the rules and the police regularly announce major alcohol seizures.

Only recognized Christian minorities in Iran, such as the Armenians, are allowed to produce and consume alcohol, discreetly and behind closed doors in order not to offend Islamic sensibilities.

Iran has seen an upsurge in executions -- mostly of rapists, murderers and drug-traffickers -- in recent months as the authorities implement a campaign which they say is aimed at improving security in society.

Quick, get everyone in that country a drink.

Your hands could be cut off for masturbating during religious holidays.

This is not about "god bless America."

But we need to remind ourselves of how stupid (just my opinion) Islam, is.

Bunch of nutters, IMO

The only interaction with them should be in trade, IMO.

go live in iran then if you don't get that it sure as hell is.

It's not about living in Iran.

There are a 178+ countries on this planet.

It's not about living in the U.S.

It's my opinion that Iran sux, and Islam sux.

It's not about where we move or live.

Visas to Americans for residency are not allowed, BTW.

Thank Dionysus That I Live In The Usa...

I don't understand what you mean.

The topic of the OP is Iran.

It's not about the USA or the West.

I don't think its about Iran's Shiite and Sunni neighbors, either.

The leaders of Iran are called the Supreme Council.

The are conservative nutters, in a nation with a high percentage of people under 35, and show more progressive attitudes.

YUAN Keding has been growing tea on the "roof of Hunan," or Huping Mountain, for more than 30 years. This year was a bumper harvest, but experience has taught him to check purchasing tea prices before celebrating, as if they drop it is not a matter for rejoicing but more trouble.
Price trends leave Yuan perplexed. He has observed the tea dealers wander into nearby villages to purchase tea from growers. They are very smart, just wait for the lowest price.
Yuan Keding's son works for a foreign company in Beijing. He usually drinks tea made from Lipton tea bags. When asked why he sticks to this brand, he says that Lipton is a world-renowned and therefore trustworthy brand...

It really makes me sad to know that in so many places in the world people may never know the joys of sitting around a dinner table drinking with friends and discussing what's wrong in the government. We take so many things for granted. I make it a mission to enjoy every freedom available to me, by not doing so would be a slap in the face of those who don't have such privileges...

Yeah, you don't know how good you have it until you see something like this and what the people over there have to go through. Even the freedom to QUESTION your government would be an amazing luxury in some countries, yet in the west we bitch and moan, and have protests and all that shit without batting an eyelid.

That's why I condone random acts of toasting, boasting and sticking it to the man....hell I'll protest just for the sake of protesting "Sir what is it your protesting here today?" me:"Nothing in particular, just cause I can really..." Then I'll take a swig from my flask and flip the bird and scream 1,2,3,4 what are we protesting for? Don't ask me I don't give a damn, we're just doin' it cause we can!!!

Of course some old man will come by and scream, "well if you don't like it you can just move to Canada, we don't need your kind here any damn way!!!!":roflmao:
