Because I get hot very easily (working and working out), I am usually always wearing a ponytail. Is that bad for my hair? I don't wear it tight though.

I wouldn't know...My hair has been short since 1991! Best thing I ever did. hehe

What's hair???

Grow a mullet?! Are you crazy? I'm a woman - I'm not growing a mullet.

Come on guys - I'm being serious.

why would it be bad for your hair just out of curiosity? whatever you do don't cut it off for gods sake!! the short hair look is no good generally speaking IMO

Just dont tie it back with a rubber bands.:finger:

Mousie;

I'm in my 30's and I've had long hair all my life except for 3 years. I would never cut it again. I wear a ponytail too when I'm working out and sometimes when I know I'm going to be to hot with my hair down. But as long as you are using clothe covered elastics or barrettes that don't break your hair, you should be fine. Hair always looks great when it's cared for, and by that I mean conditioned, cut and hot oil treated. The shampoo you choose will have an effect on it too.

Does that help?:) ;)

Good Lord no hot oil! It sits on the damaged hair cuticle....Not to mention its oil...its gonna fry on your hair... try green tea shampoo...its helped my hair alot! There is also a soy protein serum that you can use lightly on your hair if you like the shine.:finger:

I have a pony tail on most of the time and I still have lots of hair...
No damage to the hair!!!!

:thumb:
Then again, if you have your tail so tight,it may create brain damage!!!
;) :p :D

What other products are good for shiny and not frizzy hair?

I'm lucky to have been blessed w. nice hair, but when I straighten or blowdry it it's damaging..

my hair was really damaged...im talking fried! i got a poodle perm and...it was only supposed to be honey gold highlights but....i got white bleach streaks
  anyways.....its taken a while to get my hair to behave semi healthy. Honestly the green tea shampoo has helped. there is a whole product line of green tea hair care available...and off the top of my head i cant remember the name, im at work and cant run and look, ill post the name later. they have cream hair gel, shampoo, conditioner...i would use that lightly because the shampoo alone is leaves my hair so soft and shiny.

IMO I really would stay away from silicone stuff...like pantene and some hair serums that contain that. they tend to clog hair follicles.....and leave a residue. try gottobe (sp?) products. they have a great hair serum that is soy protein, not silicone.

Now lets all try to have a great hair day!! :thumb:

Well, I had my hair grown down to more than half way down my back last year. But then I cut it for my college graduation - let me tell you, the biggest mistake I've ever made. Okay, well maybe not the biggest mistake - but let's not get into that. Anyway, it actually looked really cute at first, but I started to hate it after a month...and now I really hate it because it's a couple inches past my shoulders. I hate the mid-stage. Anyway, I don't use rubberbands, I use scrunchies. And I don't put my hair up tight.

Paul Mitchell shampoo is really good.

yeah i use scrunchies too and same here...had long pretty hair then i cut it....and got mad at it and cut it again....every time ive cut it ive regreted it...and have i learned my lesson? noooooo :headbang:

Every six months... Just to clean up the look.
NEVER CUT IT ALL OFF!!!!!
:yell: NEVER

I have hair to my waist only because I don't have the time to cut it (nor do I want to waste my money at a salon). I always have it in a ponytail . Now, if you always put it in a tight, tight one you can get traction alopecia but that is rare.

Use a scrunchy that doesn't put strain on the hair or get tangled/rip hairs out. You should be fine, I had long hair years ago.

Hair isn't heavy!

If you pull the ponytail too tight you can get headaches

Sandra--Do you use the brand "Back To Basics" (They have a green tea line)???

I have always had long hair-my entire life. At some stages it is to my waist..sometimes Its a few inches past my shoulders. I cut it every 2 months to keep it healthy. It was in bad condition 4 years ago do to to much processing..but its much better now. :)

I keep my hair in a pony tail EVERY day for at least 5 hours. (from after work to the next day) I always sleep with it in a ponytail.
There's nothing wrong with that..as long as you condition your hair well & Don't use rubberbands;)
