Is having a ponytail all the time bad for your hair?

Come on guys - I'm being serious.

I would ask a cosmetologist. IMO, I don't think it will harm your hair as long as you're taking care of it.

I don't wear my hair in a ponytail often because I get headaches (my hair is long and thick.) It's either in a french twist or bun.

I used to have thick hair, but it seems like it's thinning out a bit. I'm not sure if it's because it's shorter or what.

I don't pull it tight and I take care of my hair. Do you think that highlighting your hair can cause hair thinning? I have a friend who actually does a good job of keeping up her highlights - she gets hers done every 3 months. But I only get mine highlighted about every 6.

I've been getting my hair highlighted for years & my hair is still thicker than ever. I think it all depends on the person's hair.

Sandra--Do you use the brand "Back To Basics" (They have a green tea line)???

I have always had long hair-my entire life. At some stages it is to my waist..sometimes Its a few inches past my shoulders. I cut it every 2 months to keep it healthy. It was in bad condition 4 years ago do to to much processing..but its much better now. :)

I keep my hair in a pony tail EVERY day for at least 5 hours. (from after work to the next day) I always sleep with it in a ponytail.
There's nothing wrong with that..as long as you condition your hair well & Don't use rubberbands;)

No its by Naturelle....I bought it at the can food store for 99 cents but I havent seen it there for a while. I just ordered another bottle on line....here is the link.

Depends on the level of highlights. Most of the time if you dont go drasticly light you should be ok....course remember any chemicals what so ever are going to bad for you hair. Basically you are destroying the structure of your hair...opening the cuticle and putting in or taking out from with in the core of the hair. Be good to your hair. Nothing wrong with leaving just as it is.:thumb:

Thanks, Sandra.

You know when I was a little girl I can't remember who, but people used to tell me that constantly.

"Jamie Leigh, you will be bald, don't keep your hair in so much, especially when you are sleeping or swimming, you will be bald..."

that an because I had to use the ladies room more than once in a single day (horrible to imagine I know...lol)

"JL, you should go home and tell those people at your house to get you a diaper..."

You will be comforted to know I got my revenge in full when I did a speech a few years back remembering those teachers who taught me what "real ladies are really about, lmao"

Man oh man... the things people say that are so certain of when in fact they know little or truly knowing at all. The power of words, a paradox...

;)

Well I don't wear a scrunchie when I'm sleeping.

I just scheduled an appointment with my hair stylist for June 15. I am going to get it highlighted and trimmed. I have asked her before about always having a scrunchie in, and she said it won't do damage - unless you pull it tight. (I've been with my hair stylist since I was in 3rd grade - and I'm now a 1st year grad student.)

I think that I figured out why my hair is thinning. I've started to notice that when I get really worried and start stressing out about things in my life (grad school, etc), I run my fingers through my hair and scratch my head. I'm not pulling out hair though. However, I notice that when I shower, I've been pulling out more loose hair than usual. So hopefully after this term is over, I'll be able to relax and let my hair grow back in. I've always wondered why I recently saw some real short hairs in the front - it's probably my hairs that are growing back in!

Growing a mullet isn't going to help the top of my head!

mousie--keeping hair healthy has a lot to do with your diet and taking vitamins!! Do you eat enough..carbs..and healthy fats?? Also do you take your vitamins EVERY day?? This plays a huge factor in Hair Health.;)
