It make sure I eat the 40 g of carbs per meal, 1 cup of rice more or less solves the puzzle.... watya think???

variety is the spice of life, try to get other sources of complex carbs to get different nutrients and vitamins, if it is rice make it brown rice

When I was bulking that(brown rice) and a bowl of oats in the morn was my only 2 sources of carbs. The brown rice is cheap. Thats why I used it. I see nothing wrong with it.

I don't see anything wrong with it other than boredom. Oats, sweet potatos and legumes are cheap and easy other options too.

It's just something that I have been accustomed to. Actuall I eat it about 4 times a day, half a cup to a cup most of the time. I eat oats once in awhile. Whats the difference between white rice and brown rice???

I try my best to vary my meals to by substituting pasta or something... Rice is the thing that fills me up when i'm hungry, it just so happens that its the only thing available all the time...

No white rice :finger: White rice is very high gi. It will produce a fast insulin spike. Brown rice has more fiber and slower digesting which means much less insulin spike. It also has alot more nutrients.

I read an article about "black rice". Its much lower in carbs then either brown or white and higher in nutrients, white rice is almost worthless. Black supposedly has a nutty flavor and is a delicacy in China. The article said the secret is to soak it in water first before cooking. Next time Im at the store Im going to try some. I pretty much eliminated rice, bread, pasta, potatoes from my diet. I limit my carbs to some fruit in the am and fresh green veggies. Plus whatevers in my myoplexes and bars.

Anyone remember the carbo-craze of the 70s and 80s? Especially among runners? Remember the book eat to win? There was also a great deal of controversy regarding the amount of protein athletes needed. Looking back now, in an age of scientific nutrition, these so called "experts" were spot on wrong!!! In those days it seemed only BBs hung on to correct high protein diets.................take care.............Rich

^ Why would you eliminate carbs and replace them with BS carbs like myoplex and protein bars? I think carbohydrates still are highly important, and that low carb diets are senseless, you just need to know WHEN to eat them, how much is optimal for that particular meal, and WHAT carbs to eat.

Peace.

Please re-read my post. I said whats in my drinks and bars are "in addition" to the limited carbs I eat in the form of veggies and fruits. I will say in addition I do eat some bread, but not much. I have a body type that tends to overweight" and not the good kind". I have found limiting carbs to be the best tool to control it. I havnt "eliminated" all carbs but Ive sure cut back. If the carb doesnt also have nutritional benefit I consider it useless. I believe most carbs are way overrated.

Funny but since I started limiting carbs my cut got better and my my energy levels shot way up. My favorite carb? A big green leafy salad loaded with raw spinach,broccoli,carrots...ect..................take care.............Rich

From a health standpoint different foods contain different nutrients so variety helps ensure you get all nutrients in your diet. BUT...personally I don't think there's anything to worry about assuming you don't get bored of it...and you take a multi.

I will assume you're eating fruits and vegies right....if not then I say there are health issues for sure....just wanted to add that.

OK... Thanks for the opinion guys. Ofcourse I make it a point to eat a lot of fruits and veggies. Trying to balance my diet here. I also take a some fiber thing to add to what I drink. Just increasing my fiber intake because I heard that It does alot of good things for the body
