Is the angle of your foot important in squats?

I was wondering how important the angle of your feet is when doing squats. When I am doing ATF squats I just cannot get that low unless I turn my feet out a little bit. Is this decreasing the workload in anyway or hitting different muscles that typically a person would not want to hit when squatting?

a slight external rotation (turning the toes outward) of the foot is fine. If you need to exaggerate the rotation to get depth, then you probably have some mobility issues that need to be addressed.

I would say my feet externally rotate around 30 degrees. I don't feel like it is too extreme but what do you think? I should not have serious mobility issues because I stretch often, at least once a day, and sometimes more than that. If it IS a mobility issues, what would you suggest I do to correct it?

All of these questions are impossible to answer without seeing you in person. If I had a crystal ball which told me how you squat and move, that would be incredibly helpful.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't turning your toes out help target your inner thighs a little more?
