Do we actually know if there really is something after death? Do we move on to another plane of existence? Is there actually a heaven and hell? Have we actually came to the conclusion that there is something after we die? What do you all think? Explain why or why not.

yes there is i saw it with my own eyes in broad daylight. and it wants something.

We become worm food.

for the most part we get put in a box and slammed in the ground...

i dont believe that there is life after death....unless you mean that by myself dying i created life...such as a plant and such because i became such great furtilizer.

it moves, thinks, acts with intent.

The ONLY purpose of this life is to prepare for the one to follow.......

Our body becomes 'wormfood' .All that hard won muscle rots away........

I doubt one can snuff out the human/animal spirit however........

As long as I don't come back as a pubic hair on a fat chick, all's cool with me

it can change before your eyes.

Does human vitality/energy survive? Maybe. Does a light bulb survive after it's burnt...no. But we are not light bulbs.

If human energy does survive death, big deal. Personality is a biochemical phenomenon existing in and because of our brains. Your personality dies when you die. Kind of fits from a phenomenological point of view. Why would anyone be sad for someone's death if they are going on to a better place? Shit, we should all pray for a quick death then.

What's wrong with fulfillment in this life? I think god did a pretty good job with life as we know it. Emphasis on some fantasy afterlife is decadent and as such does an injustice to the grandeur of the only life any human has ever known. Divinity manifested in creation...a pretty compelling idea. Not pantheism but something more.

when you are asleep in your bed. you may not be as alone as you think.

Well written, but I would disagree. I truely believe in Heaven and Hell and this life is a test for us and I pray for goodness in this life and the hereafter

That's an understandable point of view. I can't accept it for myself because I see our understanding of life evolving over time where ontological explanations of 5000 years ago fall to the rigors of emerging, refined philosophical standards.

Even articles of faith must be reviewed from time to time or else we'd still be worshipping the winter solstice. I suppose an argument can be made that we still are.

i don't know what the hell it was but it was aware and it was not scary. at least i wasn't afraid i was however amazed and it forever changed how i answer questions like this one. there is more here than we know.
