If you work out for about an hour and a half, its said that you should consume some protein within, what, 30 min of ending the workout right? Well, what if you wanna do cardio right after the workout and that alone is 30min. What if you wanna go longer than 30min or go in the tanning bed?

Question is, is it catastrophic that one doesnt consume some protein and carbs within an hour of working out?

No, I don't think so. Protein synthesis is enhanced up to 24-48 hours after a workout. It is a good idea to get something in your stomach shortly thereafter, but you aren't going to shrivel up and make no progress as a result.

Aha.

I was told if you dont consume some protein/carbs after your worjout with 30min, since your body goes into catabolic mode, some of the hard work done will actually cause a negative effect. Just some though. Always feared this.

This subject is highly debatable at best. I believe it is a good idea to get food in you shortly after working out, but I don't think waiting an hour is going to have a drastic enough effect for you to actually worry about it.

i have always been told and have always have consumed my protein within 45 mins of finishing training.

If you aren't following the postworkout intake guidelines,
then your regimen is considered to be suboptimal.

I recall from a few books I've read that according to
the studies documented groups that didn't follow the optimal route
gained less lean body mass, and lost less body fat over a span
of 12 weeks or so.

The differences was about 2-5 lbs LBM, and 2-5% body fat, or something
right along those lines. However, all groups made gains.

As long are your intake is within those 45-60 minutes postworkout,
the cardio shouldn't matter.

Why not have a mini-postworkout intake after weight training,
continue with your cardio, and then have the rest of your intake
for days where a longer duration is expected?

Another resurrected thread. This loser is gonna bring up every old Akira thread until he gets to 50 posts.
