Jealousy

Well since the thread has turned I will input some more.

No big blocks were offered in the 79 Vettes. I believe the last year you could get a big block was 74. The 79s looked alright to me but they are pretty slow. Try 15s in the 1/4.

And you are right Mudge, the L98s died after about 4500. You were looking at about 320 lbs of torque at the wheels in a TPI 350. And about 220 hp.

I never did a history check on the engine, but I was primarily refering to the body style of the car. I never could stand the look of the early vettes (That's just me). I always had a passion for the stingreys... Hell nowadays at least here in California, you could have the fastest motor in the state and it wouldn't make a bit of difference on the street. There is so much damn traffic, you wouldn't be able to get out of 2nd gear :D. Back when I was 16 though it was much different, there were still lots of muscle cars on the road. Best of all, there wasn't half the congestion there is now. You could actually street race and get away with it :).
And outside of that there was Fremont Dragstrip where they had grudge night every Tuesday or Wedneday night I believe.. You could drive your musclecar over and run it through the quarter mile... Now that's a thing of the past as well I'm affraid :(

Oh, and Michael.... Your probably right... I was just trying to recall from memory. Maybe it was the 72 vette I was referring to. All I know is there was one of the 70 model stingrey vettes that I liked the most.. I know they came with 350, 427, and 454 models. I never owned one or researched the history of them so I don't know all the details.

Oh please, those engines sucked and you know it. 69 Vette would rock the house.

Any engine 74-91 GM wise is pretty much a torquer or makes no power at all. The LT1 was the first decent small block since 73, and the earlier EFI engines just plain sucked. The L98 was OK, but forget top end, the intake runners are completely too long.

I am getting so jealous of my friend. One of the things i was better at than him was lifting. But now hes starting to lift...hes catching up so fast its pissing me off....he just started lifting and hes already gaining so fast. He only works out light mon wed and fri and he deosnt eat that much protein and shit...and hes 5'9" 140 pounds. Even with all the stuff hes doin....hes like as strong as me now and looking just as good as me. he doesnt research lifting and he doesnt have a perfect plan....but still he wont stop getting stronger. i kno i shouldnt be jealous bit i mean bein so fit made me unique from everyone else. i cant jsut tell him to stop. waht do i do?

perfect your form and hope that he can't...? I would say be happy for him and encourage him in his gains, there is always someone bigger, stronger and faster...unless your name is ronnie coleman, focus on making yourself feel good.

That sounds like a horoscope...lol

Use his gains as your motivation, there is usually a way to turn something into positive energy. Someone is always going to be faster/smarter/richer/better looking whatever.

Thanks for the compliments Mudge :hehe:

C1 and C2 I didn't like much, C3/4/5 I like, C6 I dunno. C3 started in 67 or 68 I think, and carried on until 82, I believe 83 was the year there were no Vettes made. Some C2s look cool, but its too small for a $30,000+ American car for me.

This one is pretty awsome...

Thats a C3, I loved the 69s. There were only 2 ZL1 Vettes as I mentioned previously, I believe on street tires they hit a low 12? I forget though, and on the Polyglass BS they were running back then thats pretty damn impressive.

Stingray btw :)

Another beauty..

Yeah, I figured you were talking about the Vettes with chrome bumpers. Up until 72, both bumpers were chrome. The c3s started in 68. I love them. And there actually is one 83 Vette in existence. It resides in Bowling Green. I believe it was less than 50 that were made and supposedly were all destroyed except for this one.

Sorry to interupt the car conversation guys

But I can kinda sympathize with Brak, For the last few years I was in a college where I was easily the strongest and biggest guy there. Then I move here and there are some friggin monsters :O I'm still in the top few, but at first it was really disheartening, then I said to myself, it really doesn't matter what those guys can do, I'm doing pretty damn good myself so I'll just focus on that.

I think you just have to focus on making yourself the best you can and not worry about others.
