Jogging in the morning

Will jogging in the morning without eating anything after I wake up result in any sort of atrophy?
 
ive actually read that you should run before you eat and it will help you lose weight and gain stamina and all that, its the best time to run i guess lol

How do you suppose you'll exert yourself enough to get a good workout without energy to do so?

Theres been quite a few threads on this, try a search. I seem to remember P-Funk posting some good info about it in one of them.

haha and u know whats funny, aside from the stick it up my ass part, what u said is actually true. Fish oil retains muscle mass and helps to burn alot more fat than exercise alone because it allows fat in fat stores to be used as energy due to the insulin sensitivity..

Actually i will take sides, golden while there may not have been any recent threads concerning this exact topic, there are always mountains of posts on the board telling you that this buring fat thing is a load of bullshit, and its all to do with a caloire deficit. so just completely forget the phrase ''burn fat'' if you want to lose fat you need to focus on your diet.

He's done so much freakin' research on fish oil....enough to tout its benefits for everything under the son short of life after death, yet can't seem to quite figure this whole fat burning thing out. Eating fish helps you burn fat. Havent heard this on the news yet maybe its still a secret.

If you want to burn fat i second and third and 8 hundred the notion to concentrate on your diet.








Or get to lubing up those pills.

I do focus onmy diet, thats the thing I care about the most, when did I say I didnt. And I do eat a calorie deficit, Im just wondering if jogging in the monring is a good idea without eating any food, because a lot of people do it.

well if you understand about diet and your in a deficit, im assuming you understand that you cant burn fat. with that in mind why the hell would you exercise without eating anything before hand? what do you think your bodys going to use for energy?
 
Also, Gaz answered your question flawlessly. You have to eat before you train. This applies 100% of the time. Merkaba was also giving you a hint to a very important point. What happens if you train on an empty stomach? The affects aren't positive in any way. You will most likely just burn up muscle cutting into your gains.

The best way to achieve what you are looking for is to diet and train sensibly. There is a range in your calorie intake that is optimal for retaining lean body mass while cutting. It is very difficult to find this optimal range. You have to have a good starting point so you can modify your diet, tweaking here and there to find that range.

But, there are other variables that must be spot on or it will make it impossible to find that range. You have to make sure you are sleeping enough drinking enough water, training properly, and eating enough of the right foods at the right time. These things are constraints that play off each other. One constraint can fuck up all of the rest.

If you post your training program and your diet, somebody can tell you right off whether something in your program is off. This will help you eliminate problems that would slow or stop your progress.

This is all part of understanding the basics. I have told you to learn the basics, perfect the basics, and utilize the basics. You have a chance to improve your training if you will pull your head out of your ass and learn something.

You should know energy is stored. At any one time you'll be burning all three Protein, Fat, Carbohydrate. The ratio of which depends on your current fed state, how long you've been exercising, your heart rate, predisposition and a million other things.

At the OP, find what works for you, if you're strapped for time and have to exercise before a meal then so be it, if you're finding yourself burned hardcore, then maybe not a good idea. Find your niche with experience!
