Hey guys.......I have noticed that lately i have had some extra water retention than usual...and yes, i do eat a little more than i should on the weekend, well not more than i should just not as good as i should......I am wondering if taking one pill og magnesium a day can cause water retention, i will also cut out all salt intake that i usually put on my chicken...I am currently drinking anywhere form 2 to 2 1/2 gallons of water a day and am curious if that could cause it.....any other suggestions on how to keep as dry as possible wihtout going to extremes that you couldnt live wiht every day....

Do not cut salt.

Instead, increase water - dramatically. Increasing water will suppress aldosterone. Decreasing salt will increase aldosterone, as your body rapidly figures out that it must conserve sodium it will do this to slow the rate of excretion. You want to INCREASE the rate of excretion. Leave your sodium and potassium and calcium at normal levels of ingestion and drink a few gallons of water a day. NOT ALL AT ONCE - think "IV drip" - steady, all day.

I find water retention very interesting. How much does cardio (running) help in the process of pushing water out?

Many articles claim extra water weight will be dropped in 48 hours, do you find this to be true?

Can you guys notice any difference in water weight after only slightly altering your diet (+carbs)?

I'm trying to figure out what my 'natural' amount of water weight to carry is. I suppose it really depends on diet and carb intake?
