Do any of you take kickboxing? Not aerobic kickboxing but real training and combat. I just signed up. I start next Monday. 7 weeks at 2 days a week. I'm pretty exicted about it.

Sounds fun, tell us when you start sparring.

Years ago I did Muy Thai. It's was a lot of fun. You probably won't be allowed to spar initially, but when you do be prepared to be physically wiped out.

If you like kickboxing, look up Cro Cop.

They integrate a small amount of thai/kick boxing into my Jiu Jitsu training.

There is a ring there and I will be sparring not initially though. I wouldn't want to anyway. I def need to get my cardio up. I would like to take jiu jitsu in the future.

I fought in Muay Thai, but that was years ago!!! It's a GREAT w/o and excellent defense to take!!!

If you want real combat then add back in the knees and elbows like they belong. Kickboxing is for Van Damme. ;)

Kickboxing was created by the Japanese because Muay Thai was too effective, it made them shake in their tabi.

Have fun though!

I just want to learn how to throw some kicks and punches. I want to get the fundamentals done and then go from there. I don't plan on stopping at kickboxing. I def want to learn jiu jitsu.

They both have there strengths and weaknesses. It is good to know both.

Realistically however, you'll want to train a mix of both known as vale tudo.

I have noticed people without a ground game get pretty screwed...

I train. I compete against those who have been in tournaments. I have yet to enter one. I have been waiting a long time. I will enter one this year.

There's nothing like have a 5 foot Thai guy beat the crap out of you. :)
I will pay to see that, let me know when he is going to beat you down.
