hey i have heard alot about creatine damaging ur kidneys if u dont consume enough water, i was wondering if protein can also damage ur kidneys. By drinking plenty of water do u have nothin 2 worry about in both cases?

i dont remeber hearing about creatin damaging kidneys? i know it can cause water uptake by muscles and dehydration over time damages kidneys and i cant imagine protein damages anything as protein is found in pretty much all foods, just your concentrating it... even creatine is found in red meats. but drinking loads doesnt ever hurt in my opinion.. just as long as it isnt loads of booze.

I heard all that stuff before...Creatine/high amounts of protein and kidney damage...I was told by my doctor that both products were fine as long as you drank enough water so your kidneys could efficiently remove any waste from the high protein diet...anyone else ever hear this before??

Yeah people used to bring this up a lot some time back. And from what I understand it is true that if you don???t keep hydrated it may cause some damage to the liver. Drink enough water you have nothing to worry about.

My doctor sent me on a wild goose chase when I first started taking creatine because my creatinine (which is what creatine breaks down into in the body) levels in my kidneys were skyhigh. She thought I was going to go into kidney failure. After a lot of tests, turned out I was fine. If you have a preexisting kidney issue, then you should be careful about creatine, but otherwise, drink your water and there will be no worries.

My husband is a competitive BB and has found out that he has a congenitve kidney disorder only recently . The kidney specialist firmly advised him to get off the creatine asap and all other supplements .

Uhh Creatine Only Can Worsen Existing Kidney Problems That You Might Not Even Know You Have Because How Minor They Can Be. I Heard That Drinking More Water When Taking That Will Help. About Protein I Have Also Heard That Around A Gollon A Day, Because Something About All The Extra Nitrogen, But Water Will Do The Trick To Release Some From Your System. I Am Not Totally Sure Iz Been Awhile Since I Read It.

I'm sorry to hear about your husband but his nephrologist is implying all supplements potential damage kidneys which I find seriously hard to believe.

We should post a creatine sticky, I swear one in every 20 questions on here relates to creatine.

Now you're just being silly. Do you realize how much effort is involved in clicking on the search box and entering key words and reading? ;)

Protein is hard on kidney and liver function. You need plenty of fluids to help your kidneys and liver function right and easily - You do need plenty of water - and also apple juice and plenty of fruits will help also. Take Care, John H.
