Lactic acid training

They lost me in the intro paragraph.

Lactic acid isn't produced in humans - its lactate thats the byproduct of anaerobic metabolism (from pyruvate), and it doesn't make you sore. It's hydrogen ions liberated during hydrolysis of ATP that do that.

While i've read research suggesting that increased blood lactate levels can cause an increase in growth hormone levels, i don't know if theres really much point in basing your whole training around it.

^ thats a really great article.

It made an important point that i forgot about in that lactate reduces muscle soreness because it's produced by pyruvate binding to hydrogen ions. Lactate can't get rid of these hydrogen ions in order to increase "the burn" even if this wasn't the case.
