I've noticed a separation in my lats and was wondering if this
is due constant wide grip pullups? :hmmm:

nice drawing haha. the top thing is probably the mucles over your shoulderblde youre talking about. the thing below is the lat.

 I just posted that.

I'm talking about the two lines branching apart. Would wide pullups cause
this. I've been doing wide pullups on the door frame of my bedroom.

I would say the door width is around 40 inches :hmmm:

This is something new, for I've been doing this technique for little under
2 weeks.

Either you are light as hell or have some awesome strength in your fingertips to be able to do a pull up on your door frame. The ledge of a normal door cant be anymore than 1/2 inch thick. I remember doing this when I was about 10 ;).

Strong fingers :thumb:

I shrug using 150 pound dumbbells in each hand with no straps.

Do you think the separation could be coming from the frame being
wide and straight?

I guess I am not sure what you are talking about in terms of "separation". Do you mean gradual widening of your lat from your waist? Or the separation of the right lat from the spine, as the left appears to be attached?

The separation. Both are fairly the same, I'm just not an expert drawing
with a mouse.

Thanks.

It seems like you are overcompensating for a weaker muscle. Have you had an injury?
Also switch to individual dumbbells and start with your weaker arm do a set and match the amount with the opposite hand/arm do not exceed this amount.

Also have a friend watch your form. It's so important to watch this because you can get funny shaped muscles.

if you are doing a lot of weight and your form suck this will happen. You have to start out really light and work up. I know it doesn't look cool but your gains will be permanent. No cutting corners.

CANIBALISTIC

No injuries whatsoever.

I think you are looking at the picture too severly.

What I'm trying to explain is right where the lats begin, there is a line
that branches off.

Maybe this will clear things up.

ohhhh . your lats are just like that. they are getting wider and so there is that little seperation where there is more meat on the back
nothing to worry about,\.

You're actually geting lat's how big are you?

Thanks.

Now back to my original question. :hmmm:

Is this happening because I'm using a wide grip, from doing pullups?

The door frame is ruffly 40 inches wide. Is this playing a factor in
some way.

Thanks again. :thumb:

I already have Lats. Its just separating at the lower part of my back. I've
had a V Shape back for maybe 4-5 years.

I really am not sure what your question is  Separation as in definition???or that your latt muscles are changing in some way??

You aren't helping anything. What do you think it is. I think it's the exercise but watch your form.

I really hope your spinal alignment isn't such as you've depicted in your diagram.

 Nah.

Yes. Definition. I pretty much like to know whats going on, when new
things arise, and, was wondering why I haven't seen this kind of separation
on many other builders.

Anyone has a link with a diagram with all the muscles on ones back?

Lol... so funny when I saw this thread... so many confused people. I knew exactly what you meant. Depending on how I flex my lats I can make that seperation you are describing become very visible. It's normal. :thumb:

Look at Lee Haney: http://digilander.libero.it/mrolympia2/lh22.jpg

You can see that his right lat has a "crease". It begins under his armpit and angles back toward his spine and downward. That's kinda what you mean right?

The first thing I see that picture is his chest cavity :lifter:

Dude just gave me insipration to do two more sets for chest. :thumb:
