well, yesterday while doing squats, I reinjured a groin injury suffered from playing hockey back in November....all of a sudden I felt a popping feeling in the area and immediately had to stop....sore as hell this morning :sob:
Anyway, my question is should I alter my routine now to focus on my upper body more while this injury is healing, and possibly jumpstart new progress in my upper body at least? I mean, I can't do ANY leg exercises with the injury, maybe calves, but that's it, no squats, leg presses, deadlifts, nothing that involves bending at the hips and thighs, so should I continue on the same routine just eliminating the leg day, or change up the routine maybe to focus more on the upper body? OR, should I be taking off totally to rest this thing? Working out my upper body shouldn't effect the healing process of my leg would it?

Do what doesn't hurt. Calves are probably fine. Gonna have to hold off on legs until that groin heals up. Then start light and build from there.

yeah I'm gonna be one of those guys that everyone will look at and be like "he doesn't work out his legs!". But whatever, guess you gotta do what you gotta do. I have a feeling this is gonna be a while, I mean the original injury was in november, now I was working my legs out since late december, but not going as heavy as I was and I was usually fine, would feel a little sore, but yesterday was bad, when you feel the "pop" feeling, you know you're in trouble! I might seriously consider laying off till late spring or summer....

how negatively will this affect any progress I have made in my leg training? example, I was squatting about 265 and deadlifting 250....if i lay off till summer should I expect to be squatting 135 and deadlifting the same? lol

IMHO you should get out of the gym and STAY OUT.........................For a while at least. Your body is a complete system. If one part isn't 100% then the whole system isn't performing up to par. If you continue to work your upper body while nursing a leg injury, you'll not be allowing your recovery system to focus 100% of it's ability on healing the leg. Now, with that said, you don't want to lose any of your upper body strength/size either, so I'd say stay out of the gym COMPLETELY for at least a week, two would be better. Then, when you do go back, stick to a maintenance routine on your upper body. Don't try to make gains during this time, just maintain what you've already got. That will give your body the time and ability to completely heal your leg. :thumb:
