liberals and Unions destroyed Detroit....

They did, however the CEO's also destroyed Detroit. Also...show me a big mostly working class city of 70% or more minorities and I will show you one of the worst places to live. A huge part of what destroyed Detroit is also the side effects of slavery.

Prior to the labor movement, there was nothing in the United States that resembled a middle class.

Starting with Reaganomics in the 80's, class warfare is being waged by the rich and investor classes against the middle and lower economic classes.

The weapons are globalization and what is called 'wage harmonization', aka. reduction of benefits and wages in the western world and transferring the capital captured to the rich and the investor class.

As Warren Buffett put it, "if there is such a thing as class warfare, my class is winning it".

Warren Buffet didn't mean it to be a smartass or to gloat. He knows how to make money without becoming a greedy piece of shit like 99% of people.

The rich aren't greedy and corrupt just because they are rich. They are greedy and corrupt, because they are human. Power nearly always corrupts. Power and money are dualistic and very rarely ever exist without both.

The failure of Detroit is directly related to the postindustrial trend of US heavy manufacturing and the failure of the automobile industry for many years now, caused primarily by making cars that nobody wants. The few cars that Detroit does make, it doesn't make in the US anymore, but overseas.
I remember when Lutze, vice chairman for GM dispareged the Prius as a "money loser" when it first came out. At the time I was in the market for a hybrid and the only good ones I could get were from toyota or honda ( ended up with the 2003 honda civic hybrid). Toyota showed him.

And the reason no one wanted them was because they designed them to start breaking after 5 years, while the Japanese and German cars were being designed for quality.....

detroit's destruction is not about unions nor liberals.

It's called GLOBALIZATION.

Globalization is a direct result of the unconscionable demands of labor unions.

It costs an unfathomable sum of money to build all those facilities and train all those workers overseas, rework all the raw material supply lines, and continually ship these products from overseas. Do you think that American industries voluntarily took on these insane expenses because they hate America and the common laborer? Or do you think it may have something to do with the fact that union labor demands $72/hour and 7 weeks paid vacation for a job that can be performed by an illiterate paraplegic Mongolian?

$72/hour includes benefits like dental, health and a percentage of vision.

I agree that what labor unions ask for is ridiculous, but you have got to be out of your mind to think that is the primary reason they are over there. Sure, there is a small initial investment, but they are using the same $2/hour workforce to erect those buildings as they are to pay the people that work in them. Even if you were paying the union employee $20/hr including benefits, it would still be far more profitable to send those jobs overseas. That is, of course, unless you realize that once you send those jobs overseas there is no middle class to purchase your shitty vehicles. You save $3.6 million annually with only 5000 employees, not including healthcare costs and overtime that you no longer have to pay. The Unions and the Execs have equal blame in destroying Detroit.

what exactly is your point?
Exactly how you saw it, when we worked for Motorola the average salary for a low level worker was $24.00 an hour and that's not including the benefits.

I like how people lump the salary and benefits of union workers in order to make them look like they take home that amount.

Bio, if you don't mind me asking you, do you work and if you do what is it that you do?

delusioned

Patrick you probably never been to Alanta..(might want to check into that) and as far as slavery that's just another way the "powers that be" have kept African American's locked in one of many social economical chains, the same people that destroyed Detroit and presently destroying America. Once we get out of this entitlement mentality and get up off our A#! and work and then educate ourselves on who is running for offices. Then we will start moving in the right direction. Impeach!

What Country does Alanta belong to?
Are they part of the lost city of Atlantis?

It was my nice way of saying American Blacks are shitty employs. IE, no slavery equals a better America, you can say that is racist but it is the truth.

EVERYONE has a sense of entitlement in America, Execs are probably the worst, they are greedy and take what they want like they deserve it...

well i completely misread that one then. glad you clarified.:thumb:

So you work for the State?

nope, private company. think consumer reports for doctors/hospitals and you have sort of the idea of what we do

So you don't have any benefits then?

i feel like i have excellent benefits. medical/dental/eye, 401k matching up to 6% paid vacation. while i consider these as part of my overall package I look at my take home pay and bonus structure as my compensation

How much do you make?

If I was to buy a house I can't include my benefits to my income.

Base pay and benefits are 2 different things.
