I work a 4 on/4 off work schedule and I work nights, 6pm to 6am.
On the days I work I lift after work and then drive home, wack down my shake, shower then go to bed. I have no problem falling asleep with this routine, but are there other health considerations here? I was originally told it would just keep me awake, but as I said it doesn't. Anything else I should know?

Train whenever you can, timewise.Try to train around the same time every day you train.Training at night does keep me awake, but after a while your body gets used to it.There is no perfect time to train.Your body will feel better training at a certain time of day or night, but if scheduling doesn`t permit,do it whenever you are able.

I would think that sleeping straight after training would be good.
Max recovery straight after workout *i like it*
Just dont forget that shake.....

Well.. after workouts you need a lot of protein, so many people take something that absorbs quickly like whey to quickly satisfy this need.
But before sleeping, you'd want to take a slow-absorbing protein like casein (I think), to keep some protein in your [digestive] system for as long as possible into the night.
So if you only had time for one 'meal' between working out and sleeping, you'd have to make the difficult choice of which kind of shake to take - and in my opinion you stand to lose something either way.
Just my 2cents :thumb:

i would work 13-15 hr days, then go to the gym,go home, eat a high protein meal/moderate carbs/some good fats and then hit the bed, i made good gains that way!!!:thumb: :thumb:
