I know the pros and cons and that it's a fairly old debate, but I think I have a new angle.
I don't want to cheat my forearms, but I also like to use the much heavier weights that straps allow.
When I first started working out, I used straps for all pulling excercises. Now that I've learned a bit more, I only use them for one arm dumbell rows and shrugs.
Even on those two I go as long as possible without, then use them when my grip fails. This way I figure that I'm still working my forearms because I go to failure, but also still am able to work my back with heavy weights on the last set or two.
Does that sound like someone rationalizing the use of straps, or a good way to get the best of both worlds?
