Hi there,

first time posting with my noob questions so please keep the trashing to a minimum. And thank you in advance for reading this!

So the situation goes I'm 19, 155 lbs and 12.5% body fat. I lift with my schedule between strength training cycles and endurance training cycles. I also run about 3 miles every 3rd day. I went about 5 years sedentary lifestyle and have been doing my current physical lifestyle for about a year and a half. So my issue is I was wondering why no matter how hard I work at it, I can't get my abdominals to fully show through. I have good muscle tone everywhere else, and am naturally very skinny, and I can feel them there but just won't completely show. My diet includes eating properly based on what I learned from my personal trainer certificate but I'm embarrassed that even with my credentials my clients can't look up to me as a role model. How can I fix this and also if it's not too much trouble, what's your opinion on an ideal bf% to begin bulking, at what rate to reduce fat gains, and what bf% to stop bulking and cut and what rate to cut at without muscle loss.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post looking forward to the help but please no negativity here!

bulking and cutting is a useless practice for natural bodybuilders, just eat healthy without excess calories and excess protein. adding muscle mass that lasts is achieved with many years of training and you are very far from reaching your full potential, you are still very young. you are lucky to be skinny, bulking with excess calories means adding useless fat cells. as for your abs let us know how you are training them and how often.

Try heavy weight ab machine crunches or hanging knee raises holding a medicine ball with your feet maybe 5lbs... I have this problem and since i put these into the mix I am making fast improvements.

^^ this, training abs with some weight or resistance and lower reps rather than the regular very high reps regimen can help make your abs stand up more

Ab training includes a daily/every other day (depending on rest days) regiment of calisthenics that I change every 6 weeks. Roughly 25 minutes a day. Does not include core training exercises

i would say daily is a bit too much , every other day is more beneficial....some old time bodybuilders believed in daily abs training though. but from personal experience every other day is better.
