Now that I've lost a decent amount of weight, I've noticed that the right side of my body is smaller then the left. Its not terrible, but if I point it out the the GF, she can see it too.

Should dumbbells become the focal point of my training? As i get the last bit of weight off, its only going to become more obvious.

FYI i'm still doing my Tri training, current splits are :

Monday:Legs
Thursday: Chest/Bis (2 problem areas)
Saturday: Back/Shoulders/Tris

Thanks in advance :)

Dont fret too much! Most people have one side of their body which is inferior. You dont give a lot of info about yourself (i.e. whether you have just started lifting weight seriously or if your body is already accustomed to weight training?). This makes it hard to evaluate your training split! Dumbbell exercises are sometimes superior to barbell exercises and defiantly db's will force your weaker side to play catch up, but both have their place. Symmetry will come with time, just try and consciously use both sides equally when you are doing pull ups, leg press etc.

thats an excellent point. I find, especially while squatting, i seem to be more dominant with my right leg. I don't really see a big difference in my symmetry from it, i just consciously try and push evenly with both legs all the time (its applies actually to hack squats, leg presses w/e).

I am very familiar with weights. been training for the past 14 months religiously, except for two 4 week blocks that were my peaks for races.

I'm not a "body builder" but understand the need for strength and power. aesthetics are a byproduct. one side is definatly weaker, and DB's are obviously the cure. Interesting that some feel usind BB's will even out the symmetry over time.

thanks

everyone has unsymmetry man, everyoone. in fact if you didn't that would be kindof odd. its not something thats a problem for the most part. and alot of times it does even out, depending on the magnitude of the dissymetry.

If she doesn´t notice it, probably you are overreacting. I am serious, only the one who trains perceive that. Do what you suggested, use the dumbells, if that doesn´t work, start chewing the food only in the right side. It is all about dieting.

The left hemisphere of the brain controls the right side of the body, as the right hemisphere controls the left side of the body. If you feel that one side of the body is out-doing the other, then you need to focus on equalizing your efforts. I've noticed that the left side of my body (in all exercise routines) tries to out-do my right side,... therefore I have to concentrate on my left hemisphere to push the right side of my body to equal the left side of my body! It's a simple matter of mind becoming one with the body and forcing them to work as equals..!
