Ok, so i don't eat sugar...I eat very low carb. On workout days I'll oatmeal before and after my workouts and that's pretty much the only big carb source i have. (no sugar) I always eat almonds, peanut butter and veggies everyday, but they also have no sugar...Is this a problem not consuming more than 1g of sugar a day? Should i throw in a banana, or should my blood/sugar levels be ok?

So you don't eat fruit whatsover? The point is to distinguish between what types of sugars you are putting in your body. Clearly klondike bars and yodels are not the type of sugar you want in your body but the natural sugars from fruits are what you want

Not necessarily. Fructose - found in fruit, honey, HFCS and anything sweetened with sucrose - is generally overconsumed in most people's diets. I eat very little fruit.

To the OP - you're fine. Probably better than fine. Oatmeal - or rather, the starch in oatmeal - is a glucose polymer, which breaks down into glucose, and no fructose at all. I eat this way myself, and have for the last ten years of my life. It's how I keep my weight under control.

Hey built,
I can understand what you are saying I was just suggesting a natural diet with wholefoods not to entirely negate sugars. Sugars are what fuel workouts which i"m sure you know
Anyway I understand what your saying
Carter, thanks for the note. I have to disagree though - you don't need sugar to fuel a workout. I trained in ketosis for eight months and I was fine.
White sugar is natural. So is fruit juice. I don't recommend consuming much of either. White rice on the other hand, is just fine as a carb-source. In this application, better than fruit.
