Can someone please explain macros to me like I am a moron please? Some people tell me to do 30 percent 30 percent 40 percent, but how do I go about figuring out what my total calories are going to be? And being a complete moron when it comes to math makes is a little confusing to me. My primary goal is fat loss and getting leaner, so do I need to view these things in terms of macros or should I just focus on portion control? Either way I would like a little help in trying to figure out how to do macros. Thank you brothers for your patience with this extremely ignorant question. Any help is appreciated

The best cure for ignorance is to learn. Most of the enjoyment I have from BB is the learning and research part. Then I excitedly get to try out what I learn and hopefully trapped the benefits with a stronger, healthier more muscular me.

There is plenty of information about macros here and on the web if your willing to research. Now this one is free..... If your not willing to put up the effort to research a little on your own, chances are, you're not willing to put up the effort to apply it on your own. Think about it, can you get bigger and better in the gym watching me workout and not actually working out yourself. I say this not to offend you, but to encourage you to do some research before you ask.

Now your goal is to get leaner, you need to determine your daily maintenance calories and eat a few hundred less. Keep track with one of the nice free apps out there that allows you to log all food intake. Some even show your macro intake. You need to learn what foods to eat and what to avoid. Protein builds muscle, so make sure your getting enough. There is an amount for your body type you need to eat each day. Keep fats clean and complex carbs for energy maintenance.

Now brother this is the tip of the iceberg on this subject. You need to spend some major time researching this in the diet and nutrition section. Read the stickys, they are a great start.

Best of luck to you.

I can get you some links to some good articles if you'd like. I use myfitnesspal.com to keep up with my nutrition intake.

That would be cool. I appreciate that. I just have a hard time figuring out percentages because my math skills are at the grade school level. I know that if I wanted to take in 3500 calories a day being that I am 6 foot 3 340 pounds this that would be probably an ideal amount to lose weight and get lean because I'm probably eating between 6 and 10 thousand calories a day now. I've been on the powerlifting seafood diet for a while. But its figuring out what's 30 percent of 3500 calories in the form of protein, carbs, and fat would be.... Sounds like I would need to eat the same stuff everyday because there's no way in hell I could re calculate all that stuff for different food items every day I am just too f****** dumb at math

FitDay which is not the site I like DOES show your diet for MACRO in the representation of a pie chart and percentages. I seem to be pretty close to 33% all the way around.

Thanks bro. Great resource, what to put all of my nutrition research in layman's terms. It seems that all I need to do is consume meat and vegetables with minimal carbohydrates and reasonable portions and I get rid of the candies in ice creams and so does a stick to water and tea and do cardio a lot and I will lean up and be a monster it actually seems that simple

I love my fitnesspal.com too. I use it on my phone to track all my food. It's decent for telling you how many calories you need to lose/gain weight, but ignore the macros, those are FDA guidelines and they're terrible. If you do use my fitness pal, put in your info and tell it you want to lose 1 pound a week; it will give you a workable calorie goal. Make sure you're honest about weight and activity level. Good luck
