I'm in my first year of uni so i need to get the balance right of drinking once a week around my program, specifically Starrs 5x5 program. Different nights have different events and some nights are better then others depending on the lineup etc. So i was wandering i trained sunday tuesday and then thursday(this time i wanted to do something friday even though i did not drink) then take saturday, sunday, drink monday, take tuesday off then train wednesday from the first training day squat, bench, rows on Starrs 5x5. Or will taking 5 days off the program fuck up the whole progression of it?

thanks

You can't plan a routine around your drinking times! Get serious brother or don't worry about getting into lifting yet. This is a lifestyle and unfortunately drinking don't fit into it.

i can understand that but I'm not training to compete just for the fun of lifting, have you ever seen rugby dudes they are piss heads and yet there beasts, a few friends of mine are prime examples and actually i was meant to drink yesterday but stopped myself lol but there are some nights i would like to get drunk

If you're training for fun then lift for fun. Just don't expect anything out of it. The amount and frequency of your drinking is directly inversely proportional to the results you'll get.

You can rationalize it all you like about how you want to have a good time and deserve to unwind and relax but that's the simple truth. Alcohol is a poison, it dehydrates you, leaves you unable to eat properly, causes huge fatigue, and breaks down muscle. Not to mention that its all empty calories so will just make you fat/gutty.

Pick which is more important to you, or just accept that you won't get the most out of training if you do drink regularly. I would say a beer or two and a short once a month is a reasonable maximum if you want to drink and train. I'm not drinking until new years eve, thatll be over 3 months. After that, wont drink untill about may i doubt. Want to do some powerlifting.

okayyy well how about if i had to miss a workout for an event etc, like tomorrow I'm meant to be doing the "mondays workout" of 5x5, so squat, bench and row. however, i want to go to the beach and celebrate something (no drinking here by the way, just i won't be able to eat my diet, as in the food i would eat on workout days), missing one day and actually extending my rest day by an extra day, its not going to effect the progression of 5x5 specifically at all is it?

and i was thinking it would actually be beneficial for me to take an extra rest day after training my accessory's, 3 sets of curls for biceps, 3 sets of dips and 3 sets of pushdowns. This would allow them to have an extra day to recover so it would be beneficial to the progression of the big lifts on bill starts 5x5, i was thinking that i might be able to train like this on the program to aid me?

dont really understand this schedule. ur in college so ur gonna drink. just dont get completely wasted every weekend. Getting drunk once a week is gonna hinder your gains. try to space it out to 2x a month. if you can't fuck it its college have fun

I am no counselor, but trying to plan your training routine around your drinking routine has got to be a bad sign.
I would seriously cut back on the booze just so I knew I could.

lol i trained before for a year without drinking i don't really like alcohol but it makes the night fun.... and you know I'm in my first year of university..... yeah thats what i was thinking 2 times a month

and what i meant regarding my schedule is that at the moment I'm training sunday, tuesday and thursday, and thursday you do your accessory lifts and take 2 days off. i was thinking i take an extra day off to allow proper recovery for my bis and tris so they do not compromise progression the big lifts.... at the same time this would allow me to change my days off during the week if and when i want to drink.... or would taking an extra day off just fuck up the program completely

+1
It's easy for me to say this because I'm f-cking tired of school (6 years) and have an Obsessive-Compulsive personality, but remember what your priorities are.

I know some rugby players and they are big and muscular, but that's it. If you want that kind of look, drink the booze and eat like your bulking. If you want to be serious about your "form" and they way you look (example would be HeavyIron) then you have to dedicate 110%.

I'm not lecturing...jussaying...

Maybe it will, maybe it wont. Who knows? If the program is written out by the author to be performed a certain way then do it that way. If you adapt it to your own schedule, it might not make a difference but on the other hand it might.

The actual configuration of the days probably won't make a massive difference, but keeping a consistent schedule and not missing days randomly is important.

I would stay off ETOH during cycle or when your just trying to get in shape. Slows dowm metabolism and would increase your estrogen level.

I cheat on the weekends and i usually drink then. Of course for me drinking is a couple of shots of tequila or something and not a bucket or night of debauchery. I like liquor cause I can keep the calories low and the alcohol high so I get more bang for my buck. Get the buzz over and done without having to consume copious cups of crazily caloric and carb crammed concoctions.

say that three times fast, while drinking a tall one, and banging natalie portman in her ass.

moderation bro unless you want to compete then a cupla beers on the weekend wont hurt.. it wont benefit you but it will not damage you that much unless your binging for days on end... just drink loads of water b4 u go bed to keep you hydrated.. but yeah if youe wanting to compete then im afraid its a no no...

You're fooling yourself if you think that you are keeping the calories low by doing shots. 1 shot of tequila can have as much as 110 calories PER SHOT.

2x95 (Tequila)= 190

3-4x150(budweiser)= 450-600

looks like a lower calorie count to me
