not sure what the law is now but then i was told even 1 pot seed would get you 5 yrs. not long after that a friend of ours got busted n thats what he was facing. i was never in any throuble w the law so don't take it i met them that way but i met a few cops in vegas and they were all very cool. i'm talking looong ago.

the laws in nevada were just recently softened quite a bit. cops got tired of felony busts being pled down n so on but it always was the state with the toughest laws.

Well I think someone was pulling your leg Gazor. I can't believe anyone would ever get tossed in prison for 5 years possessing 1 seed It would have to be a pretty powerful seed my dear.

As for the other list of penalties, they look about right to me for repeat offenders.

a leaf, stem or seed was considered proof of possesion. if they found a seed in your car n wanted to be dicks you would be facing 1 to 6 yrs. and it was not taken into consideration if it was your 1st offense.

It would be interesting to find out how many were put in jail for just 1 year for a first offense of less than an ounce. Then another statistic for those put away with 1/2 ounce etc. etc. (just out of curiosity).

I knew a friend way back when I was 18 years old. He was the same age, and was cited a misdemeanor for possessing about 1/4 ounce. He pled guilty and had to pay a fine of about 75.00. But this was roughly 25 years ago. Not sure what the laws are like here now. I know they are getting more strict everywhere. Hell even the medical marijuana facilities are struggling to stay alive. But having people using the medical marijuana businesses as fronts for their dealing doesn't help either.

one of the reasons cited for the recent relaxing of the laws in nevada was that the felony charges are always pled down. i think it'd be sad to learn people did time for this, i mean the law is the law but some laws are overkill. in one state they can take away student loans for i think a first time violation... kinda nuts.

the casinos run the show here in Nevada.

the laws concerning possesion in some states are a joke. like in PA if you get caught with mj in your car it counts as 7 points on your licencse, the same as getting a DUI. some states you can do 10 years+ for a major possion charge for mj but only do 5-8 years for manslaughter...makes a lot of sense

Used to do it a few times when I was in college. My favorite was hashijauna (mix of pot and hash) but only spent $5 on pot once. The rest of the times I got it for free when buddies were toking up.

I don't think anyone would want to get caught selling... This law would just encourage growing for personal use .

Dayammm and if caught with selling more than 10 pounds... "Life without parol". That is some serious penalty there.

I guess it's definitely a way to clean up the streets though. More than likely Mississippi must have had a big drug sales problem at one point. Slapping down strict sentences like that will definitely help take the sales off the streets.

We have the 3 strikes law here (which I believe is still in effect) where if convicted of 3 felonies, you're tossed into prison and they throw away the key. That's pretty stiff too! But I guess if you don't learn after 3 felonies you deserve a strong awakening. Then on the other hand some laws like the marijuana law can be overkill and set as a felony charge, where other states would consider it a lesser crime.
