Mark Gilbert Calls Out Bill Phillips!

Supplement and fitness industry icon Bill Phillips recently participated in an interview with former MuscleTech researcher Craig Ballantyne. This interview was part of a Men???s Health report and was posted on the MensHealth.com website. Right after the interview was posted, British supplement research Mark Gilbert (also a former MuscleTech researcher) attacked Phillips and tried to put him on the spot over his previous steroid use! Mark Gilbert is the lean guy in the tank top below with his arm around the lovely Stacey Lynn (with 400-pound Greg Kovacs on the right).

Here???s the question Mark Gilbert through at Bill Phillips:

QUESTION: Bill, do you think that your early use of large amounts of steroids will (or have) had any effects on your health or longevity or do you think your overall healthy lifestyle since that time could or will compensate for any earlier indiscretions?

BILL PHILLIPS??? RESPONSE:

First and foremost I want to say Thank You to Craig Ballantyne for allowing me to participate in this interview. I support what Craig is teaching and appreciate his contributions to the health renewal of America.

I would also like to answer Mark Gilbert???s brief question (above) about steroid use and long-term health. From my experience and research, the sooner we recognize a behavior is an unhealthy mistake, the better.
Having used steroids in my early 20???s I have firsthand experience of their effects. Yes, they help build big muscles. And no, they are not good for our health. Of course, at age 45 I can look back 25 years and see the error in my thinking back then. And with that realization comes both regret and remorse for the poor decision I made.

It has taken a while to forgive myself for this error in judgment and with this forgiveness comes an appreciation for the lessons I???ve learned. I see my health as a true gift today and I try to live in a way that is aligned with that. Exercise, eating right, helping others, nurturing positive thoughts and emotions??? these are all proven effective ways to make our lives better. By teaching and practicing these ways of living, I feel I am honoring the gift of
health I have been given.

Whether it is getting off of steroids, or cigarettes, or alcohol, or even addictive foods, it???s never too late to make that change. The body and mind are remarkably resilient and when we change our ways from destructive and bitter to healthy and loving we can be healed and renewed. Our lives can become better than they ever were before because of the adversity we have faced, not in spite of it.

Of course, we all will learn what we need to learn the way we need to learn it; yet when asked about steroid use today, I simply say it is not worth it. Not just because of the health risks but because of the legal penalties. It???s just not worth it. There are better ways to build confidence and self-worth. There are better ways to define yourself and better paths to take for enjoying a good life. That being said, I recognize, respect and accept that each person has the right to choose what he or she will do with their body and life.

Thanks again for your question Mark.

And thank you very much Craig for the opportunity. Keep up the good work!
Sincerely,
Bill Phillips
SCOTT WELCH???S COMMENTS:

Phillips is the fucking man! This response shows just how much of a true gentleman and role model Bill still is. Instead of denying his steroid use or taking a shot back at Mark, Bill toys with the question and just outright admits that he made an error in judgement as a young adult when he used steroids. It takes a great deal of courage to admit fault, but Bill took it on the chin and actually adds a healthy message in his response that even non-steroid users can learn from. This admitting of the truth (even if it???s a negative truth) builds credibility through the roof. Great job to Bill on this, still a role model even after all these years.

I'm embarrassed for him. Not for admitting steroid use, but for comparing it to cigarette and alcohol addiction. He is just telling people what they want to hear. Pitiful.

Notice the statement he makes "I recognize, respect and accept that each person has the right to choose what he or she will do with their body and life"

He admitted to using steroids a long time ago.....
