never tried HST but max-ot is really good and fundamentally easier to follow and set-up. the official max-ot guide is like 80 pages long, but the actual principles could be described in a page or two.

Ive tried both, currently using HST. I like it a log, and I would have to say I respond better to it than MAX OT, but people are different.
