I've been strictly strength training for a very long time. And rarely doing anything more then 6 reps.

I'm going to Mexico for 7 days. Leaving April 4th. When I come back I will for sure have lost some strength and weight. I will be drinking and probably won't be eating as healthy or as much as I usually do.

But when I come back I want to lay off the strength training for awhile. I'm thinking about doing strictly 8-12 reps when I come back.

Since I have been strength training for so many months I have gotten larger and thicker. But I want to know if I strictly do 8-12 reps, what will change? Definition? Size? Nothing?

You can still grow at that rep range, as long as you are still picking the right weights/overload.

You can grow at pretty much any rep range if that's your goal. Either way, its a good idea to lay olff heavier weights for while and give your connective tissue a break.

Yeah, this will be a well needed break and a long break, haha.

you can grow or cut at either rep range

i like to cycle through the rep ranges regularly

give it a try for awhile

what do you have to lose?

Hmm, I usually keep my reps high(15-20) but I like a long/monatinous workout, really makes me break a sweat. I think (could be wrong) that high reps /w medium weight is more for "toning", or atleast that's what my high school weight lifting teacher told me, but the standard for gym teachers is so low these days he could have been spoonfeeding me bs.

He was. Theres no such thing as toning. A muscle is either big or small and you either have a lot of bodyfat or not very much.

Those things dictate whether a muscle looks defined, and are both accomplished through your diet.

Good, I have weightligting next period. Time to educate his ass!
Thank Gazhole. :thumb:

i like sets of around 8-9 as target reps. also when i want to change things up i will do movement training ala p funk, horizontal movements one day, rest day or two, vertical movements, etc.
