i need to get an idea who in here is in to h.i.t training such as mike mentzer and arthur jones basics.

My brother and I subscribe to very similar training style as Mentzer and Jones. (Mentzer is a little cooky, but Jones was an innovator)

I dont use full body routines as of NOW, but have in the past. I like them, very taxing and they are wonderful for builing endurance. The only problem I forsee is actually being able to motivate yourself to the point that , say, Jones would have on a full body routine.

It would take an insane amount of mental fortitude to do that....

I use a split routine as of now... probably going back more to the full body real soon (I change it up a lot')

what type of h.i.t training do you do? e.g. rest, exercises, sets. i get alot of static from people when i talk about my training ( im a big follower of mike mentzer theory of training)

I've tried it and i think with proper loads and deloads it can work very well. I do think that stopping 1 rep shy of failure is the best thou for strength and for muscle. Try it with failure and without and see what u think

I've done the routines right out of Heavy Duty, and really enjoyed them. I've seen good results in adding load each week as well.

I don't know how similar the style of HIT I used is to the ideas of those gentlemen, but I have used HIT type training methodologies in the past with reasonable success in terms of strength gains. I must admit though, it left me feeling kind of shitty really fast.

I trained 2 days one week (Monday and Friday) and 3 days the following week (Add in Wednesday) using full body programs. I only did one working set of each exercise and I used anything between my 5-10RM. I would usually implement a rest-pause set or two, isometric holds, and/or negatives beyond hitting failure on each set. I did about 6 exercises give or take each session. I rested as needed between exercises.

does kinda burn you out fast doesnt it. The fact is you can't train as frequently or as hard for as long. But stopping 1 rep shy of failure makes u feel like gold and you dont need to take weeksoff/deload as freq.
