hey u all. Im wondering whether my martial arts will interfere with my lifting. I do not want to overtrain. Here is my schedule

Monday: chest triceps
Tuesday: Legs and martial arts
WEd: OFF
THurs: Shoulders and martial arts
Friday:back and biceps

I was wondering if i will overtrain if i do martial arts after lifting? Martial arts is only an hour and i dont spar hard. I jsut dont want to injure my shoulders by lifting in the morning, then while im resting, go to martial arts later that nightand work shoulders even more. Is this no big deal?

you need to consume some whey protein and both simple sugars and complex carbs between the weight training and MA sessions...

It doesnt intefere with mine at all. I just follow a diet geared towards providing me enough of what I need for both. My workouts are geared towards MMA, not bodybuilding too so that has a lot to do with it.

I agree ith Lam yo need to put on some weight. To answer your question though. If you are going to train martial arts you should at least get a short routine and train almost every day. Martial arts isnt like weight lifting. Traing for self deffense is to train for life. Its every day. So ask your sensei for some routines to work alone. And do them. Try getting up an hour earlier Run for 15 to 30 min then train your routine after some light stretching. Lift wieghts then as you see fit. But dont confuse martial arts with wrestling or basketball practice. which is done twice a week.

I would suggest trying not weight train and do martial arts on the same day. For example, lift on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday while doing martial arts on Tuesday and Thursday. Sunday can be a rest day if you so desire.
