Hi all,

just thought I would add an opinion about this excellent machine I have just tried today.

I have been using a Smith for a while due to no spotter and no cage at my previous gym, did ok, no injuries but did start getting sore knees.

Today was my 1st session at a new gym (recently moved house & area) and I have just had the best Squats session ever :D the ROM / movement plane is just great and there are 2 handles to 'hang on' to which really enables you to get nice and low & sit right back very comfortably with absolute minimum risk of spinal or knee injury/strain due to the positioning of the platform etc..

This particular machine has so boosted my view about machines and after feeling the leg pump and full usage I will never again touch a Smith.

In fact I really prefer this machine even to free weights as I can really sit back proper/further than with the free weights.

In my particular case I am 6' 3" tall and not very flexible so this will get my legs growing like never before, I can feel it.

It looks to me that modern science is now making better machines than ever before and this machine (for the 1st time) gets my thumbs up vs. free weights big time :thumb:

I know what you mean, that machine is really great. It seems that you can do much more weight on it thatn with free weights, almost double the amount. Or is that just me?

Does your new gym have a squat rack? :D

not just you :)

I can see adding loads of weight due to the safe positioning etc..

hey can u post a photo of that machine? or tell me where to look at it in websites

yeah what does this "machine" look like?

The machine is easier, yes; but you realize what makes freeweight squats better for overall development, right?

Monolith, yes of course & u are right, I do understand about the recruitment of enormous amounts of secondary fibres all over the bod etc...

moon, I will see what i can find, but dont have photo to hand at the moment

heeholler, very similar but not quite same, the platform is raised but is parallel to ground and not sloped, also the handles (not the main padded arms) are facing outwards away from each side whereas in your pic they are facing the other way (back & forwards instead of sideways out), also slightly different padded bars position and shape.
i have never seen this machine until earlier today.......i loved it so much that i am sitting here at 23.35 hrs looking forward to next squats session!!!

oaktown, as per my description based on the differences noticed from the photo link above by heeholler

thks for replies & regards to all
