I can't stand oats. I've tried. It's not really the flavour that bugs me (as I add my whey and some dry curd cottage cheese to spice it up)...it's the texture.

Maybe I could do a half-cup with something else, but a full-cup is out of the question. The oats are so dry (even with milk mixed in) that a full-cup (if I can even finish it) takes an hour or more. This is ridiculous. I'd much rather go for a bagel or (clean) perogies.

Nevertheless, I don't know if bread is the best morning carb alternative for a slow-burner. Any ideas on what I can substitute? Or, any ideas how I can get my oats in more efficiently? (i.e. taking less than an hour to eat a cup...)

Thanks!

You might try some wheat pancakes, brown rice, whole wheat English muffins unless you're looking for something specifically to mix into your protein shake.
I'll either eat two banana's or put them in my morning protein shake and then eat maple/cinnamon high fiber oatmeal about an hour later when I get to work.

Whats wrong with Cheerios? 2 cups with skim milk. That's 50+ carbs.
