I normally jog every night and this week felt a pain in my muscle just above my ankle. It was like someone was pressing their finger and thumb into either side of the muscle. I dont know what it is but I get calf cramps too when I walk and haven't done any exercise at all in 5 days. I need to do exercise just to be able to keep my depression, anxiety and stress levels down as well as get to sleep at night. I've been to the doctor and he said unless I have an x-ray he wont know exaclty what is wrong because it could be a number of things. The pain I get when I been running around or even just jogging for aBOUT 3 minutes is on the inner side of my right leg just above my heel, and the cramps are in my calf muscle about in the middle, half way up my calf.

Does anyone know what might be going on?

Well i've kept forgetting to stretch before I go for jogs so maybe thats something that caused it.By the way what do mean stretch it out really well?

Just do some static stretching thats it. Definintly dont overlook stretching. I did playing softball last weekend, we were running late so we got there in time to take the field. And I pulled a tendon or something in my hand, damn did it hurt.

do you stay properly hydrated?

I do get dehydrated quite often especially in the night when I wake up in the night, my mouth is bone dry. Don't know why its terrible when I sleep. I just been for a little walk and can feel my calf muscle aching as I speak. I put some ice on it and the swelling has gone down a bit and then tried a hot water bottle on it, both for about 15 minutes, then massaged my calf. Do I need to rest as much as staying in for 4 weeks and not walking apart from going to the toilet etc??

By the way when I been walking my muscle just feel like cramp and it barely hurts. but it does hurt. And whats the best exercise in the meantime while I try and rest my calf (even though after 5 days it feels no better)? Elliptical cross trainer? rowing machine? exercise bike?
