muscle groups days weightlifting

I'm going to start weightlifting for real tommrow and i was just wondering what days are best for each muscle groups.....i thought i coudl do this........mon - chest,arms,lats......... tues. - legs,back,shoulder.........wed. - dont lift.........thurs. - chest arms, lats......fri. - legs, shoulders, back.........sat.- Run or same as mon. and thurs........Sunday - off

Look im prob. doing this all wrong...any customizing this from anyone i would greatly appriciate it!..please help!......

p.s. ill do abs after every workout!
 
thats too much muscle groups at the same day!

And why would u do abs after every workout??
abs are achieved through diet not through doing them everyday
 
so, you are just starting out for the first time?

what exactly are your goals?

there are many routines you can use, but it depends on what you're trying to accomplish. From a bodybuilding standpoint that routine would not be very effective.

one mistake that people seem to make all too often is jumping into a work-out schedule that is too much too soon, and they end up overtraining and quiting.
 
i used to lift for 4 hours 7 days a week full total body workouts, but i didnt quit
 
the point is.....i.......didnt.....quit....even........after i might have been overtraining.......

You should lighten up your load bro. You will get burned out.
 
So your looking at a four day split?
I'd do something like:
Monday: Chest/abs
Tuesday:Back/Traps
Thursday: Legs/abs (if you want to do them twice)
Friday:Arms/shoulders

I wouldn't do abs more than twice a week, they still need time to recover.

Whats your experience like? Goals? Diet?

Beginners should do all muscle groups twice a week not once, with lots of protein intake and a lot of food theres no problem for the muscles to recover in less than 48 hours

He never said he was a beginner, (probably is though)

I'm curious as to why you think a newbie should be working each muscle twice a week golds?
 
Cause it takes a while to overtrain when u are a newbie....

How do you figure that?
He would see the same gains or better and not half to take time off, get burnt out or risk an injury due to "overtraining".
