Hi there. First time for posting a question here. I started weight lifting four months ago so that I could tone and firm up. I've had three children and my lower abs do not look the best. I've been doing crunches on an exercise ball, weighted crunches, knee raises, and declined situps. My upper abs look great, but my lowers are still loose. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to IM!!!
Your doing the right exercises but diet is the key to getting those lower abs looking good though.
Your just starting, keep at it and don't give up, if you want it bad enough it will happen.

If you need some help with your diet, check out the nutrition board.

Really? I would have never guessed that it was my diet. I will go to the nutrition section and check it out. Also, I have noticed that I am developing muscles but they are bulky. Is this due to me still carrying fat on top of the muscles? I've gain an inch around my waist instead of dropping it. Although, I have reduced my overall bodyfat 6% in the last four months.

Hi ks, I'm glad to see that you took my advice and checked these forums out. I'm sure you'll get the answers that you need.

How long has it been since your last child was born?

My youngest just turned three last week. My other two are ages 8 and 7. I had my first one by c-section and my muscles have never been the same since. However, I ate like a horse and I gained almost 72 lbs with her!!! I've shed all the weight now, but need to firm back up. It's going good except for my lower abs. I'm really ready to do something about them. Just need a push in the right direction!

Good for you Ksflygirl!! Just keep at it, sounds like your going the right way so just keep doing what your doing.
If you've just started lifting 4 months ago, you may just be holding more water so that may be why your size went up even though your BF went down.

KEEP AT IT GIRL!!! :thumb:
