i recently got serious about losing weight and gaining lean muscle. After consulting a former pro bodybuilder at my local "Y" this is the diet he gave me. im just wondering how others think of this diet. i was a member of this site a while ago but lost my sign in and password so if any mods would care to help me get my old name back i would appreciate it. my email has changed so i couldn't just get it sent there. anyways here is the diet.

i stuck to this diet for 1 weeks but felt hungry all the time and lost a total of 10 lbs in 6 days. since then i have added more calories by taking away the heavy whipping cream and adding another scoop of "True Mass" to the protein shakes. with these additions i am taking in a little over 400gms of protein a day and not sure about the calories but believe them to be around 3300-3500. what are the thought of this diet? this guy was a true heavy weight bodybuilder who trained with some well known ppl and he recently said he trained his then wife to a miss galaxy title yrs back. dont really want to put his name out here but he walks the walk but im just not sure about diet.

Stats
male 32 yrs old 6'5" 230lbs i train 4 days a week

i should also add that i drink at least 1 gallon of water a day.. usually more.

guess this site is not what it used to be. not even 1 dumbassed remark...

too many protein drinks, not enough veggies, not enough efa's(substitue in place of heavy cream)

How much water are you drinking?

I don't think much of the diet personally

^^^ sorry IainDaniel... could have copied-pasted ure post  I should have read!

Jeezus thats a lotta shakes, whey and fake food... The water IMHO is ok... Then again, Ima fuckin sink, need a gallon just to get supps down in the morning!

Id say more whole foods, good fats, 1 cup veggies aint much!

just to clear up not all shakes r whey only two are the other 2 are a complex blend. i do understand you saying that it is too many though. as for fake food?! what is that. what other foods should i eat to get the proper protein intake. didnt know there was anything better than chicken fish and steak. and certainly wouldnt call them fake foods. do you know of any sites that would give a detailed menu for a day or maybe even a week? that said i dont live in front of a stove and refridge so all my meals are something i grill a week in advance and usually eat cold.

thanx 4 the help.

I think the reference to fake foods was about the protein shakes.

Why couldn't you take packaged tuna, or what I do sometimes is cook a whole turkey on the weekend, then package it up for the next week in single serving bags. Then I have my fresh vege's all cut up also - throw those into the mix. you can get a list of them in the stickies -

Good luck!:)

I'd also say drop the heavy whipping cream, what good's that going to do you? Use some sort of clean cals instead... If it's going in a shake maybe use peanut butter instead.

What is crystal lite?

I do think it depends on what your goals are. Losing body fat for a competition, or losing bodyfat and maintaining that loss?

Competitive bodybuilding is not known for being really healthy, although it is possible to have a healthy diet and strip body fat.

I would think with that diet the rebound may be a bit severe.

Personally I would work on a healthy eating plan that would allow you to maintain a lean physique ALL the time.

crystal lite is basically flavor added to water. i used to mix all shakes with skim milk, but he made me lose the milk and use water. just add the lite for flavor although i never used it. my goals are bulk up on lean muscle and not fat. the first thing i noticed was the loss of fat using this diet and although i have noticed myself getting larger im still not happy. at 6'5" 229.6lbs i still need another 15lbs to be happy. i have been called skinny my whole life and am really developing a complex each time i hear those words and im 32 now..

i do take tuna for lunch and also chicken and grill talapia when i get home. i do eat healthy (although i know not perfect) just looking for that extra edge

Personally I think you Protein is too high at 400+ g a day.

Lets just assume these numbers
1600 cals from Protein
assume 90g of fat meaning 810 cals from fats
so that leaves 230 g of carbs for your remaining cals approx 920 cals

If you are looking to gain weight I would bump down the Protein around 300 range and bump up your carbs. as well as stated earlier choose smarter fat sources.

i am considering losing some protein simply because it is costing me a fortune a day to maintain those levels. ill do some more reading on the stickys and try to come up with a better all around diet to acheive my goals.

Whey protein is pretty cheap. But Pro Complex is more expensive. I use muscle milk for meal replacement instead. But I only have one of those a day for my pre workout meal.
