I just have some quick questions. I went to this local bar and grill type restaurant tonight for dinner and had a plain salad with chicken w/o dressing and some sweet potatoe fries w/o salt.

I tried to ask what the sweet potatoe fries were cooked in, but they weren't very informative.

Is it almost certain that these are deep fried, and equivalent to regular deep fried, greasy fries, or were they perhaps a good choice?

I needed some sort of carb. Fuck, this bothers me.

For those places, it was most likely fried deep. So your starch was lower but the sat fats were up there.

Damn. Youre 17 and you feel this bad (to make a thread) that you ate bad one night of the week? I have bad feelings after a bad meal but I get over it pretty quick. If youre out and you need to eat, you dont have too much of a choice if you need to eat quick. Its not going to kill you, just stay on track from now.

I'm just extremely curious, because it didn't cross my mind that what I was eating was bad until I got home and realized that they were most likely deep fried.

I wasn't expecting a cheat meal tonight or anytime this week, so its pretty dissapointing, yes.

yeah they were def. deep fried. there is this new thing that can cook food w/ air that makes them crunchy like being fried. But I'm sure if they didn't have that advertised they don't have it, sinces it's such a new thing. But they were good huh? I had them for the first time this summer. It's weird cause you expect reg. potato taste but get that sweet taste.

Don't worry about a single 'slip' like this. If you had plan chicken + salad (no dressing) then you didn't have a lot of fats in that meal anyway - so the fat from the deep fried sweet tato would not have been too horrible.

They were not too a horrible choice and it would have certainly been better than chowing down on garlic bread! :D

But if you want to do this again then next time see what else is available... eg: Did they have plain rice? Also, if they had pasta on the menu you could also ask for a serving of plain pasta? Some plain bread (eg: a roll) would have also been fine.

Hey thanks Emma, great information as usual. Your probably right I didn't have many fats or any at all, so I probably didn't make all that bad of a choice.

I rarely eat out, so I guess next time I'll just get the white rice if I do go.

I had a slip up tonight, went for a pizza and goats cheese starter now thats a proper slip up, no though.

But been really good all week just need to get back on track tomorrow :)
