Get the Duct Tape...I'm Ripped Again!
This thread is twofold:

Have you had a Near Death Experience that you are willing to talk about?

and.......

What if anything did you realize, learn, experience from it, that you would like to share?

Interesting, I haven't had one, so I spose I'm thankfull of that! Paranormal stuff has facinated me for as long as I can remember, but my own experiences have been pretty tame.

Yep, I almost prematurely extinguishe teh ol Burner's life force a few times last year.
It was all on my sport bike. I had some close calls, but the one really stood out.
I met up with a group of riders one Saturday morning to cruise around before going up to Denver that evening for a an event. I left my riding jacket at my friend's place, as I thought we weren't realy going anywhere. So, I was just wearing my jeans and a tank top. As we grouped up, someone had the great idea to run a canyon up in the mountains. Great.
So, we went. If you've never run corners on a sport bike, it's really hard to ride slow. So...my speeds starterd climbing to the usual warp speeds I run at when wearing fully protected. I was in a nice right handed sweeper nearing triple digits, al things were fine, but something caught my attention in my peripheral. In the second I took my eyes from the road an my 'line' to what was off to me side, the bike drifted towards the edge of the road where all the loose gravel and debris was. I was litterally inches away from material that would have caused me to go down...into the woods with trees, rocks, etc. I actually told myself at that moment that "I am now going to die".
Luckily, somebody upstairs likes me, 'cause I was able to revocer from that.

Things I've learned:
* Never go do any serious riding without my two piece leathers
* Maintain focus of my surroundings

Slow down? Nope. I'm actually a better rider now since then, I am just using better judgement.

There are some hills near me great for cruising, a biker dies about once every 2-4 weeks up there, wether going face first over incoming traffic or what.

I'm living it's a miralce, i should have super head trama

sometimes I think you do have super head trauma:laugh:

:haha: :haha:

This happend at an early age.

We were in Tripoli Lybia in 69 when Kadafay took over. We were quaranteed to a hotel there for 2 days before the US service men came in and flew us to the island of Malta just to get us out of the country. My dad flew back to the states.

One day, I was running up and down the all in a villa with a big glass door at the end. My mom said stop but hey, kids don listen. Sure enough I put both my arms through the window. Nothing happened until I pulled them in. I felt somthing warm on my arm and looked the wrist were I had laid open a 6 inch stretch of flesh to the bone and blood was everywhere.

We had no car, did not know where the hospital was and did't speak there language. Somebody flagged down a car and tossed me in the back.

I remember being wheeled down a hall and they kept asking me my name, so I woulnd't fall to sleep. They had to juice me with more blood and sew me up with huge as piano wire stitches.

They told my mom that if I been another 10 minutes in getting theire I would of died.

To this day I have a huge scar their to remind me the reaper almost paid a vist.

I've had other close calls later in life but I'll save those for later!

I used to have a Kadafy Duck T shirt

Tell that one to your kids so MAYBE they will listen...

...and show them the scar..and say 'this is what happens when you do not listen!

where you at?

when I was 17 years old and they had the bad epehdrine and regular yohimibe out.

I think I popped 5 of the ephedrine pills with 2 800 mg. yohimibe and went running in the summer. I think after 1 mile, I collapsed and my mother revived me (She's an RN) She asked me what was wrong and I ended up telling her. She gave me a few aspirin and took me to the ER.

I was in the Virgin Islands and the waves were recorded at a total 8 ft. high with a huge undertow. Because I lived in Florida and dealt with some of their 5 ft. waves and undertow, I said, how bad could a few more feet be. Plus, you see all those dudes surfing in Hawaii! I went in, let a few crash on me and one time, I lost my footing, got dragged in underwater, fought it and just barely came out alive. My head was light, all I saw was hazy white. Ran onto the beach, saw my mother and sister and thanked god. Finally, I respected the ocean's wave realizing I almost lost my life. I have to thank all the times I played out on the Florida beach, holding my breath underwater etc. If I hadn't, I would've easily drowned in the USVI!

While driving my car at 17 in Vermont with my best friend on a dirt road. I was driving a Honda Prelude and was coming down over a moutain (summer). (75 degree decline) I was clowing around and lost control, swerved off the road and missed a tree by inches which would've killed my BF easily! How I regained control, I don't know. If we crashed, no one would've found us for hours! Kinda like that movie, "Misery". That's what that accident would've felt like, easily!

Hey, DJD, you two can now get married up there.

Anyway, I had a near death experience in VT my freshman year at college. Me and my BEST FRIEND decided we would free climb Smugglers Notch. That was really retarded in hindsight. We got stranded for an hour about 3/4 of the way up. Finally, like an idiot psycho, I decided i was going to try a semi anchored branch. I jumped for it and and flailed all of my limbs and made it up while the "anchored" branch fell below about 600 ft. Anyway, I climbed up another 30 ft and found a rope and pulled my friend up th rest of the way. We decided that we would keep the rope for the descent, which I feel was wise.
