When I was 17-18 I was driving home from a long day of snowboarding. My friends suggested taking the back roads home because there were never cops on it. So I was speeding down trying to get home fast and it was probably 11:00-11:30 pm at this time.

I had never taken this road before yet I was speeding down it anyways. After snowboarding for around 6 hours it was fair to say my mind was pretty fatigued. I starting turning into a bend in the road...and it kept bending...and I kept turning....and it kept on bending and the car started skidding and I had very little control. I whipped the wheel quickly into the opposite direction. The car started skidding the other way straight for a guard rail and deep ditch, I whipped the wheel back again and this time I was heading straight for a wooden fence and house, yet again I whipped the wheel and there was the guard rail. I had started to get more control and I turned away and just barely hit the guard rail. When I mean barely I mean a medium sized scratch on the very back of the bumper. Like something out of a movie.

Thankfully there wasn't a car coming in the opposite direction. I was going a good 75-85 mph. In retrospect it was very likely that the car could have flipped.

Any good near death experiences you would like to share? :)
I find this a very interesting topic.

Cop pointed a shot gun at me....he was all freaked out, I thought I was dead.

The alarm in my house went off, I grabbed a butcher knife and went looking for who broke in ( I know that was stupid), I met the cops when I turned a corner, they went ape shit but didn't pull the trigger...After that it was all good.

Wowy wow wow.

When my family was moving to Sante Fe de Bogota in 1991 the hotel we were going to temporarily live in was bombed. Needless to say we stayed in another one.

i almost went over a waterfall in my a youth. some dude jumped in and saved me.

Out on a motorcyle ride with a few mates and a busy bank holiday loads of cars on the road and going past traffic where possible,we all have new sports bikes and we were going round a few bends when my mate didnt judge a corner very well and lost the front end on a wet drain cover and went straight into a car coming in the other direction, all the carnage was coming straight towards me but some how missed it all, sadly my mate died later in hospital......

First of all, MACCA my cousin just got in a bike accident and is in critical condition. Bikes are awesome, but I might have to stay away.

Second, Fufu, I think I've seen the movie you are describing.

Finally, Foreman was on the previous episode of cops. Sober people aren't the only ones who know about the show.

Ok......now back to the topic.

I was once shot at by strangers.....you could here the bullet whizzzzing by.

I was stabbed on the left side of my neck with a straight razor barely missing my jugular vein, the cut required 30 external stitches inside and 35 outside.
I still have a scar that starts from the front of my neck to the back.

I'm sorry about that but I was drunk at the time and you didn't get my beer fast enough.

Thats what happens when you listen to a guy tell you, "these breasts will only cost you 2k installed in an hour baby."

Fun aside, I'm glad you are still around to... be an object of our amusement.

Riding my Buddies three wheeler...

Jumped it over a knoll, I went over the handle bars

I landed flat on my back knocking the wind out of me

I opened my eyes and saw the three wheeler coming toward me

My legs were still pointed skyward so they hit the seat of the three wheeler

It came down crushed me into a ball and sprang off landing on its wheels idling

If my legs didn't absorb the downward impact of the machine
It would have crushed my chest

I about ended myself 5 different times on my sport bike...
The one that I saw my life flash before my eyes...
was leding a group of about 5 riders through one of the mtn passes not too far from where I live. I was doing about 120mph...was going into a nice left curve...was set up, and all things were good...until...in the distance, some kid was walking backwards toward the road I was approaching on. (he was on the side of the road at the head of a dirt bike trail) He could not hear me coming...the fraction of a second I took my eyes off my 'line' and saw what he was doing...was enough for the bike to drift from the left side of my lane to the far right..where all the loose dirt had gathered...
I just 'knew' I was done for...all I saw were the pine trees, boulders...barbed wife fence that was about to snatch the life force from my soon to be mangled body...I even recall telling myself that: ""I am gonna die right now."
Well..somebody up there likes me...I was able to pull it out....ease off the throttle....and got to our destination point a couple minutes later, where it took me a good 20 mintutes to calm down...needless to say...I rode the speed limit all the way home....

Close calls

Saved from drowning, Lake Huron (age 8 or 9)

A helping hand kept me from flying off into traffic in London, double decker took off unexpectedly while I was still on the entry platform, hanging on one handed, sorta fluttering like a pennant in the breeze. Traffic woulda crushed me for sure, had I not been pulled back up. Age 12.

Buffo frog poisoning (lab preps, college biology lab tech - pithing 300 poisonous live frogs, two pairs of gloves on, still got puctured, anaphalactic reaction, emergency room yadda yadda). Age 19

Various interesting car incidents, like pulling 360s in the middle of a sleet storm in four lanes of busy holiday traffic at 10;30pm, after being winged by a drunk kid in his new black camero (no lights, going wrong way). Thank god for Detroit bombers (heavy metal project cars of the 70s), as damage was minor (strange story behind that fact, in myspace blog)...but when you hear the repeated ticks of near brushes with our vehicles as your ride is spinning down the road, its an odd, surreal sensation... of time being slowed way down. How can you miss being hit repeatedly by other nearby cars who are trying to avoid you on the fly... in such a situation?? Everybody musta had damn good reflexes, I dunno. You tell me.

Try this one: busy state road, two lane, early Feb in the artic North, z-section of highway, big curves at either end of this stretch. Wildlife runs out in front of the vehicle, reflexive swerving at 55 mph, onto opposite shoulder (sanded)...almost regain control, hit a large pothole off the side of the road, rear left tire is caught and ripped clean off the axle, car pivots 90 degrees, releases, and rolls side over side...about 10 times we reckon from the marks on the road. Rolling down the center of the highway...during a very brief lull of no traffic in either direction. End up off the road on the shoulder of the side I had been driving on, right side up. Windows gone, top crushed, but not all the way. Chevy Blazer - obviously built to take a beating. I crawled out of that one, pretty much intact. This one, a couple years ago.

Had some other close calls, but those are the ones that came readily to mind.

Guess I got 9 lives.

I would say: HAD 9 lives...down to at least 5...
:)

I've been caught in a rock avalanche, almost drowned, been hit by two cars, and been in a coma that I shouldn't have come out of.

Wow, even imagining that is intense.
