Here is my problem, I want to change gyms but my training partner won't. The gym I currently go to is a Y. It has everything I need but also has a lot of kids and distractions. The other gym I have been trying out is an old warehouse converted into a gym, it also has everything I need but also has 24hr keyless entry plus ALOT less distractions. You walk into the YMCA and you trip over little kids getting to the weight room( not very motivational). You walk into the new place and you smell sweet and feel like kicking butt.
My training partner is a old friend and I will lose my spotter for chest days. WHAT DO I DO???? I lift super early 4:00 am so I will be completely alone in the other place, not real safe when doing bench.

If you've been training together for a long time, it would probably do you good to move on, either by yourself, or find a new partner at the new gym.
Partners are not necessary, and people tend to get dependant on them. If you need a spot, you can usually find someone in the gym.
Once you make the move to the new gym, work-out alone for awhile, you will eventually find a new partner. You may find that you don't want one!

I agree with Prince.Sounds like it is time to move on.Don't let someone else hold you back.If you have trouble finding a spotter, switch exercises.Weighted dips and dumbell benches are two of the most productive exercises I have ever tried and you don't need a spotter.Lifting buddies can turn into a crutch sometimes.

"I figure,f*ck it.While I'm at it why not just shoot my buddy, take his job, give it to his sworn enemy, hike up gas prices, bomb a village, club a baby seal, hit the hash pipe and join the national guard....I could be elected president."

I also agree, I lost my training partner about 6 months ago and even though I miss haveing a spotter at times, I've learned to work around it and have actualy inproved more without him than I had when we trained together.

For bench, I'll use the squat rack for my spotter if I'm doing a close to max set.

Scotty, I never would of thought of using a squat rack, hell of a good idea! Thanks for the advice guys, I had pretty much decided the same but needed a shove, thanks again!
