Hey everyone,

I'm starting to get back in shape. I'm a 20 year old male about 5'8. Last time I checked I was weighing in at about 190 or so.

Anyways I'm very out of shape from when I use to be. I use to be about 150-160 or so but this was back when i was 16-17-18.

Starting to get back in shape. I've cut off the drinking out of my diet. Going to strip clubs spending about 200 dollars a night on drinking wasn't helping my situation. My problem is that I do tech support for all the hospitals here so Im at my computer/desk all the time. No physical activity. I dont play any sports anymore either I use to be into hockey a lot aaa/whl so now no more exercise.

My question is my family is saying to not eat any carbs I guess for that "atkins" diet. I drink some "atkins" advantage for breakfast. And trying to eat better but they are trying to take me on the route of no carbs.

Im slowly working out more dont want to rush into it. Doing some light running and working out more because I havent been at all for about the past year or so.

I have to lose weight though, my face is a little bigger. I can feel the fat under my chin now too never felt like this before, and in just in general FAtter. What type of diet should I start out with and then go into. I want to lose body fat and get bigger at the same time my chest/shoulders arent as they use to be. I want to slim down my face, lose the skin under my chin but still get ripped and bigger. Any input would be great thanks :)

hey man, dont completely cut out carbs from your dieting whether your trying to gain or lose weight it doesnt matter. youre goin to want to incorporate some good carbs into your diet. there are good carbs, and bad carbs. obviously you dont want the bad carbs. someone else could explain it, someone who knows what theyre talking about. but until then..

read this:
weight loss - free information on losing weight
it has some pretty good info that will give you some ideas and help set you on the right track. theres also some other links in the article about setting up a good diet plan and stuff. so read through that and browse around afterwards, hope it helps a bit.

I am not a fan of the Atkins diet, or any 'diet' for that matter, unless you are using it in the context of modifying your lifestyle and diet, permanently.

You can't continue to live on the Atkins diet, so once you stop, you may find yourself going back to old eating habits.

Most people who 'diet' gain back all the weight they lost, and more within 3-5 years.

There is nothing wrong with carbs, unless you are eating a lot of sugar or simple processed carbs.

Read a few of the stickies in the diet section.

The ebook Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle is also really fantastic for learning a healthy way of eating you can maintain for life.
