Check out the diet and nutrition section with regards to weight loss. Read the stickies, educate yourself, search the forum for the answers to your questions, and post your diet for a critique by the experts.
As far as training goes, cardio isn't absolutely necessary to weight loss, although it's usually a useful aid in addition to diet. A very useful tip: after every meal you eat, take a 10 minute walk. Studies show that three 10 minute walks are just as effective as one 30 minute walk. In other words, feel free to split it up. Taking a walk after eating is a great way to get your metabolism going a little bit. Even if it's nothing too intense, it'll still help. Other easy tips include eating smaller meals more frequently, staying completely away from fried foods and other foods void of nutrition, and sticking to drinking skim milk or water. That should easily cut a lot of calories depending on your current diet.
As I said, however, check out the diet and nutrition forum for the best advice. I'm no expert when it comes to diet, but some of these tips can be helpful in the first baby steps you take. Good luck.
