I was in the gym this morning doing shoulders. The main level has cardio and weight machines with a few benches, shoulder pressses and weight racks. The basement (dungeon
) is all free weights. Well I was downstairs doing presses when the entire ceiling shook. Looking up at the ceiling, I was hoping no one hurt themselves. To my surprise this happened two more times while I was down there. I was half expecting to see a loaded barbell come crashing down it made so much noise.
Finishing my free-weight sets, I decided to do work on my rear delts by sitting reverse on the peck deck located upstairs. Here, I see the culprit. Some guy, I would say at about 5'11, weighing anywhere between 200-220, no defintion (looked soft) was running around the gym, doing shoulder presses and super-setting with upright rows.
Everytime he lifted he would scream. Now, I lift heavy as well and undertstand that there are moments at the end of the set where you just have to let out some noise while trying to squeeze that last rep out, but this guy seemed to be looking for attention (you guys know what i am talking about). When done with his set he would simply let go of the weights. He must have learned how to do upright rows by watching a rocking chair because that is how his body was moving everytime the weight went from his midsection to the lower part of his chest. Needless, to say he looked ridiculous.
To top it off, between sets he came over to talk to this guy working out near me. I overheard him saying that he was feeling strong today and was on some new program that gave him all this enrgy. Riiiiight!
I normally don't pay attention to people like this but the rukus this guy was making made it pretty difficult. I don't undertsand why gym personel did not ask him to take it easy since it was clearly obvious that this guy was putting on a show (maybe they found it entertaining instead of annoying
)
Anyone have any similar stories.
