when you're under a jeep and look at your sig other and say...how much can you bench again?

cuz you realize the transmission is sliding off the jack and very likely on to your head...lololol

You help your man fix the vehicles?? :fapn::whackit::fapn:

Edit: I might have missed this joke entirely..

Dear Sheri, what i believe Intence was hinting at [in his subtle way] was, maybe not the best forum mushy talk of 'sig other'...or maybe not

You ever stand up and pee SheriV?

I hear chicks can now buy handy-sized funnels which can fit in your purse.

the military apparently experimented with said handy funnels...

no, I don't help him..he kind of helps me. Many moons ago I was married to a mechanic that owned his own shop..he would never fix my car so his partner showed me a ton of stuff
at one point when I was single I worked as a class B mechanic then later as a service writer.
So when really expensive shit comes up I REALLY cringe paying a shop to do it..plus funds are tight
and some ass basket made some interesting (dumbass/lazy/cheap) mistakes doing the clutch in my jeep before I owned it which grenaded the throwout bearing and slave cylinder..

no one was crushed but now Im sitting around waiting on a flywheel that probably isn't gonna show up in time to get this put back together on deadline. I'm a little peaved.

[h=1]How Much Does a Transmission Weigh?[/h]
[h=2]Answer[/h] A transmission is heavy. How much a transmission weighs varies depending on the vehicle, such as a car or truck. It can range from between 60 to over 1,000 pounds.

hilarious. :coffee:

Ford c6 auto trans for pickups and etc. about 300 lbs manuals weigh less

Manual transmissions are typically not very heavy. Automatic transmission I would not even entertain. Me and a friend pulled on out of an old 5 liter mustang manual and it was like 150-200 pounds managable. We pulled out an automatic subuaru something(b4 they were all, all wheel drive)a week later high on our previous accomplishments. Holy shit were we off. The torque converters are heavy...

not very heavy might be relative to it's gonna fall on your face. suddenly even 5 pounds is scary.

The trannys on backpage usually weigh between 100 and 160. I find the skinnier ones have the biggest cocks.. GICH

yeah...its awkward..not absurdly heavy but definitely not easy to manage in dirt/gravel with a regular floor jack

precarious!

it weighs about 200 lbs with transfer case

heres a tip, remove the transfer case, then what I did was lay with my feet towards the back so I could see the alignment of the bearing and clutch and held the tranny on my knees while I slid it into place. Or you can use a floor jack which is what most people do

Do you see what happens when you leave the kitchen OP ?

yeah...I'm goin for the floor jack...same basic body positioning and am going to kind of rely on the way the pins line it all up more than anything.

looking at the difficulty of getting the transfer case back on the way the 4x linkage is on this mess ..it almost looks like the only way to get two of the bolts back in would be with a wrench and only getting away with quarter turns ...idk that removing the 60 or so lbs is worth it.
and that's with looking at it on the ground. I'm not totally decided and have about two more hrs to really think about it

If it turns into a major fail the transfer case is gonna come off though

I predict my nose will be broken by the end of the evening

Transfer case is a quick pull and it makes it a little less awkward, its not that its heavy. What type of trans AX5 AX15? I swapped my BA15 and bought a kit from advanced adapters in Temecula, Ca so I could bolt on a GM trans and it made a huge difference in power to ground, plus the shift was tall, it was a few inches over the dash was originally coming to cut it but I thought its was kinda fun so I left it Adapter Kits | Advance Adapters

Sheri, next time bring it to my house. We'll put the Jeep on a lift and the trans on a trans jack. I can only think of one reason a woman(lady?) should be on her back and its not to pull transmissions.

neither, the little peugot (sp?) transmission...the one that the case splits down the middle (which someones had apart before...this troubles me mildly)

I really wanna put a shorty shifter in it because reverse was always a bitch in it, it'd pop out under any kind of torque...but now I suspect I know why. Loose bell housing bolts (seriously) and not a single bolt in the transmission mount that is in the skid plate...bolts were there..they just weren't in

I had always assumed it was because of either the crappy shift boot or because of the axle angle not being corrected with the lift...now Im not sure how the clutch and throwout bearing didn't start being a huge problem earlier
