Hi everybody.
I finally got my olympic bar today with 4 olympic plates.
As i was setting it up in my basement, I realized that i could also
put these olympic plates on the standard 1" bars I have.
The first red collar goes on in reverse.
The plate then goes on and fits snugly onto the tapered end of the
collar.
Then the other collar goes on after. Tighten it up good and it's ready to go.
It seems to hold very well. Maybe you've all done that before but
I thought I'd share it to those of you with olympic plates who don't have
an olympic bar yet. Check out the picture.

You can buy sleeves as a cheaper alternative as well to upconvert the 1" bar to 2" ends.

It seems kind of cumbersome with heavier plates.
With lighter ones it's pretty easy.

How much weight can those standard bars hold though?

All my plates are standard. I'd like to switch it all to olympic, but I can't decide if I want to spend the money yet or not...
