So, what we are getting at is this:
The next time I get a raging hard-on when thinking about a girl, I should go do some squats since my testosterone level is elevated?

I hope you bro's really understand that in turn it releases more testosterone. When you are squatting you are actvating as many muscle fibers as possible to push the weight. Your body needs to pump GH after that workout to help recover. In turn, this will increase your natural test output. I'm not saying it will ever be as much as if you were to take roids, all I'm saying is that people who don't squat or even work on their legs are foolish.

I would like to personally thank the people who backed me up, and I also have no beef against mudge or anyone else. Just a simple thread about finding an answer. If I do come across an actual study (which I have before, can't find it,) I will immediately post it for eveyone to see.

We should have a thread just about it.....maybe in the training or Anabolic section.

Acute effects of different intensities of weight lifting on serum testosterone.

Schwab R, Johnson GO, Housh TJ, Kinder JE, Weir JP.

University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha.

The purpose of this investigation was to determine the effect of moderate weight lifting (MWL) and light weight lifting (LWL) on concentrations of serum testosterone in males. Baseline testosterone concentrations were determined via an indwelling catheter in the median cubital vein. An initial sample of blood was followed 7 min later by five samples taken at 4-min intervals. A final sample was taken 10 min after the last 4-min blood draw. Blood samples were obtained at similar times and intervals on the weight lifting days. The MWL consisted of four sets of six squats at 90-95% of a six-repetition maximum (RM), while the LWL consisted of four sets of 9 or 10 repetitions at 60-65% of the weight used for the sets during MWL. There was a significant increase in serum testosterone concentrations following the fourth set for both MWL and LWL when compared with baseline concentrations and both MWL and LWL testosterone concentrations returned to baseline levels at 10 min postexercise. These results indicate that MWL and LWL caused increases in serum testosterone that were greater than those associated with baseline levels. Postexercise responses for the MWL and LWL were similar.

a link would be nice Iain

Actually I believe Patrick posted some information on training volume and intensity, and its effects on testosterone levels.

And it proved to me, what I already knew from experience, minute fluctuations in hormonal levels mean jack squat in terms of your lifts.

If you think that garlic you ate is going to make your lifts fly because it raises testosterone, you are hoping for quite a miracle. Even taking straight testosterone will largely be neutralized by SHBG and aromitization.

Normal hormones fluctuate a few percentage points, people taking testosterone directly are many times over natural levels and still often find 20 inch arms a tough prospect. There are far too many things that come into play.

I know, my main point is that squats release the most gh which in turn help your grow better than just doing upper body.

Also, powerlifters and football players sometimes crack open those sniffy pills you take when you pass out to make them get a jump of adrenaline. Football players take it to get jacked up and crazy for a big play and powerlifters take it because it adds an extra 10-20 lbs. to their bench believe it or not.

Main point here is.....

IF YOU DON'T SQUAT, YOUR NOT GOING TO MAXIMIZE FULL GROWTH POTENTIAL.

Simple as that.

I also think (by reading your last post again mudge,) that you are thinking that I mean it will raise testosterone and you will immediately lift more for that workout. What I'm saying is the opposite. It will release cortisol faster therefore breaking your muscle cells down faster than doing leg presses or leg extensions. You get a better workout quicker. However, leg presses are the second best quad exercise you can perform imo.

I think he is a fucking retard and I hear you 110% brother. My brothers friend went to lift with me and I said, what do you do for legs... "Well, I use to leg press for three months but I stopped because my legs are naturally big." I said okay let's bench today. He benched 225 for 5 reps. Then next week on leg day we lifted again and I convinced him to squat, he says, okay. He couldn't even max 135. WTF??? I hate people that think it's that easy.

They should know better anyways, squats release the most testosterone possible next to deadlifts.

Actually I remember reading about this. It was in a muscle and Fitness magazine a few years ago. They did a study and placed people in a leg training program vs. one without. And the leg pressing group did have more testosterone. It was an article for impotence. Id look it up myself, but I was hoping someone who lived on the computer could un bury it.

I have used them and I still posses amonia capsules and I never had an adrenaline rush from them that I could detect, they simply make you more alert, i.e. like waking up someone who is passed out.
