i am wondering if i am overtraining. i usually workout 5 days a week, here's and example of the workout i did yesterday:
upper body
flat barbell bench 3 sets 5 reps
curls 3 sets 10 reps
shrugs 3 sets 15 reps
lat pulls 3 sets 10 reps
sit ups 3 sets 25 reps
decline dumbell presses 3 sets 10 reps
forearm curls 3 sets 15 reps each arm.

i usually do a workout out like that for upper body one day, and then do a lower body workout kinda like that the next, and the upper, then lower, i keep rotating. and i take saturday and sunday off. is this too much? should i get a new split? what are your workouts?

yep...train each muscle no more than twice aweek max!...imo

I say that as long as you are seeing gains, do what you've been doing. But, if you have hit a plateau, try going less. I myself gained a hundred pounds in 3/4 a year (my first year) working out 5, sometimes even 6 times a week. Then, I hit a 3 month plateau! Desperate, I lowered my workouts to around 3 a week. And guess what...I started going up again.:D

Nope that don???t seem like overstraining. I think is much harder to overtrain than most of the people think it is IMO. My coach makes us do a pretty damn hard workout and I???m still making gains.

*** Hey RC did you make up that workout or did your coach gave it to you?

A 100lbs in 8 months man, are you for real? Seems prity damn unbelievable to me...

hmmm :D ...your muscle needs to rebuild thru rest/nutrition, not giving it any time to do this will stop growth...even degress.

Yes I agree but not many people I know off work hard enought to overtrain.

What consists of upper body or lower body for you? You should only be hitting each muscle group once a week, except abs, which can be done 2-3 times a week.

cant calves be done just as frequently as abs?

Yes, calves can also be done more often, I'd still keep both to no more than twice a week, they still need time to recover.

Ok, that explains your workout on that other thread, you know you have to take Muscletech products for that to work!

 J/K, most of the routines in the mags are a joke.

Yeah calves can also recover pretty quickly and can be worked more then once a week.

What about if you ask your coach to make up a football weight lifting routine for you, I'm sure he'll be happy to healp!

yeah i dont like most of his though, and he puts everyone on the same ones at the same time, so everyone wants the same machines, its a problem.
