For the last couple of years I try to avoid high rep sets of deads or squats because I start getting a tremendous pressure in the base of my head/upper part of neck that brings me near passing out. Extreme weights and lower reps up to 8 don't bother me at all. When I get to the 10+ rep range I can feel it coming on. It starts out feeling like a cramp but then I can feel a tremendous pressure building in my head that makes me feel like I'm going to pass out. I'm training for a strongman event in 1 month and I have to do 450 pounds on deadlift for reps. Last night I got to my 13th rep and wasn't fatigued yet but I had to stop because I thought I was going to pass out. I do the same thing with squats. Any other exercise doesn't bother me at all. Bench, OH presses, accessories, cardio, nothing else does this - only squats and deads. I know if I go to a doc he's just going to tell me to quit lifting and that's not what I want to hear. My next thought is blood pressure and mine really isn't bad. It isn't normal, usually runs a tad bit above normal range. Hoping maybe we have some medical professionals or someone who has experienced similar symptoms who might be able to help me with this. I feel like it is holding my progress back and will hinder my capabilities with strongman competitions. Any help is appreciated.
