How heatly are peanuts? I hear that the have "good" fat, but checking on the nutritional facts they have so much grams of fat. Will I get fat by eating them?

Peanuts are good.

However as you noted they are have a high fat content, so adjust your serving to fit you caloric intakes.

They are a great way to get some extra easy cals in with my meals.

i eat about 3 serves when cutting about 30g each serve, whne bulking eat as much as you want really, the have mostly mono unsaturated n unsaturated fats which no matter how much you eat really wont make you fat, unless you go really overboard, thye also contain a fair amount of protein, and thye are all natural, actually they are a bean not a nut

Planters Unsalted Mixed Nuts :rocker:

They rule.

I totally agree that peanuts are not "bad" but do watch the serving size because we can all tend to sit down with a can and eat way too many...also keep in mind that Almonds are the better "nut"

Nuts are great especially towards the end of the day when you start adding your extra healthy fats into meals. In agreeance with Gina, almonds are the best. Try having some crushed nuts with a salad, I found that goes over really well.

Try to get unsalted and possibly raw nuts, as the salt content surprisingly enough is what makes you sit and each large quantities at a time.

Somehow I see this melding into the peanut butter thread....

Raw walnuts and raw almonds are your best choices. Peanuts are a goitrogen food so keep that in mind.

So what does that mean for amount of intake?

I actually eat the nuts from Planter's Mixed Nuts leaving a half can of peanuts I don't really want (it's actually about 40%, like the label says). I grind those up finely before adding other ingredients to my protein shakes.

I heard somewhere that peanuts can naturally raise testosterone levels - though I certainly doubt. Anybody seen data to support this?

The peanuts are my least favorite part too. I'm going to buy some different mixed nuts from the baking section at the store and make my own without peanuts next time I go shopping. I think, I can make more that way cheaper, plus they are never salted.

That just means don't overdo it an be sure to use variety with your nuts and nut butters.

Methinks I'll buy some raw almonds tommarow for some variety.

Raw almonds are one of my favorites :nanner:

Almonds and Almond butter are the best.

Never had almond butter. Now I am intrigued. Never even knew they made it.

I could literally sit down and eat the entire jar of almond butter.

Mind you I used to do that with Peanut butter when I was a kid.

Meh Almond butter rules. :D
