Hi all, I'm wondering, has anyone actually tried Power Factor Training and/or Static Contraction Training? There are claims that these programs can achieve high intensity and thus stimulate much strength and growth, while doing all the movements only around 2-4" of their top parts, and for an extremely short sessions. But would these methods really work so wonderfully? Has anyone here actually try and benefit from these programs?

Powerlifters sometimes workout in short range of movements for becoming stronger in that range, and for breaking plateus, but it is not a replacement for a full routine. With that said, I dont believe static strength is the same as dynamic "true" strength, perhaps someone here knows more though.

So do you recommend me doing PFT/SCT only to break pleateus, and then returning to full movement training?

But when you say that static strength is not the same as dynamic true strength (which I understand as the strength when doing full movement), would this not mean that doing PFT/SCT will not improve our performance in full movement exercises? Then PFT/SCT would not actually break any pleateu in full movement exercises, would it?

My understanding is the minor benefit gained is within that specific range only. The last person I can think of that really advocated static strength was Charles Atlas, well actually thats about the only person I can think of  and that was to sell booklets to kids.

Personally I'm not buying it as being very effective at anything but perhaps a small ROM, but perhaps others have heard something more/different.

No one else in these forums have tried this methods or have any opinion on them?
